Which language would you like to learn?
@BeyondTheInfinity
I would love to learn German.
@observeroflife nice, would like to share why you want to learn that language
I love languages! I'd say that I'd love to learn modern Greek because of how cool it looks, and it has amazing history
@Emily619 amazing, when are you planning to start? and yes greek language has good history
@BeyondTheInfinity
I've studied it slightly before just with free language-learning apps, such as Duolingo, but I hope to re-start my progress soon! Maybe when I have a break off of school
@Emily619 So, would you continue with Duolingo? I also use duolingo, I am learning Spanish and started a few days ago, I am still in debate about whether to go to Spanish or French, haha
@BeyondTheInfinity
Yes
I learned Spanish and French in classes, so it "stuck" much better than Duolingo lessons. Although I'm not fluent, nor anywhere close to it, I still try to take chats in those languages to prevent my skills from fading. You should definitely try to take some chats in languages you're learning, it definitely helps with conversational vocabulary. I usually let the member know that I may be a bit slower because I'm still learning and they're usually fine with it and understand completely. Word Reference is also a great tool for a language dictionary, and much better than Google Translate since that tends to be inaccurate
@Emily619 I believe fluency takes a lot of practice in reading, writing & speaking. It's also helpful when someone corrects us, I usually appreciate people when they correct me, as english is my second language, and that is how I will be able to grow :P I am at a weird point right now, where I am able to understand what other person is communicating, be it in movies or in-person, but when it comes to speaking, I struggle to find words, I think it'll get better with time.
@Emily619
Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely try taking chats in different languages.
@BeyondTheInfinity Turkish
All of them!
@Flika89
Be prepared for a MASSIVE headache and to wake up one day speaking Babel...
Korean

@EefyWillums Yes it surely makes travelling easier, if we know their language, also it would help you in watching animes, if you're anime fan ;)
@EefyWillums
Be prepared for all the characters you have to learn and how to put them together...
I've always had a dream of learning Latin or Greek. I know they're "dead" languages, but I think learning something unique is incredible.
@Emmur that is nice, I heard ancient greek is a dead language, and modern greek is widely used. Not sure
@BeyondTheInfinity
That's probably the case. Learning both and seeing the change between the two languages would be really neat to see!
@BeyondTheInfinity
