Self-Awareness – The Foundation of Inner Growth
Self awareness is such a simple concept in words... and yet it can be one of the hardest things to truly live by! It’s more than just knowing what we like or dislike... it’s about deeply understanding our emotions, triggers, patterns, and motivations. When we slow down enough to notice WHY we react the way we do, we start to uncover powerful insights that help us grow and respond more intentionally. In today’s fast moving world... a lot of us operate on autopilot: reacting to stress, criticism, or fear without pausing to understand what’s happening inside. Cultivating self awareness allows us to break that cycle. It gives us a chance to pause, reflect, and realign with our values before acting. Over time, it builds emotional resilience and self acceptance. I've been developing this skill by either journaling after tough days, practicing mindfulness, or asking myself a gentle question like: “What am I really feeling right now?” I TRULY believe that when we know ourselves better, we can lead, love, and live more authentically!
So everyone, I have a few questions to ask here:
-
How do you personally practice self-awareness in your daily life?
-
Can you recall a time when being more self aware helped you handle a difficult situation differently?
Cannot wait to hear all of thoughts!
@EmaanP
Self awareness helps me to calm my thoughts.
Rationalise things.
Take the emotions out of it.
To own my own mistakes.
To see things from someone else's perspective.
To learn from my mistakes.
To grow.
To identify my own triggers, for example, my nephew is really sensitive and sometimes, he has extreme meltdowns and at first, it's stressful, you get angry , reactive, voices raised, and in time, with self awareness, I learnt his triggers, my triggers and it helped work on better solutions to make us both feel safer and happier 💜💕
@EmaanP I practice self-awareness in my daily life by acknowledging my emotions and giving myself the time and space I need. Recently, I've been facing a lot of challenges, but I am trying my best to give myself the time I need to recover and to think properly because it's a crucial stage of my life. Self-awareness helps me become a better person for the whole community and for myself as well.
@EmaanP Honestly, self-awareness is hard. I try to check in with myself during the day sometimes I just ask, “What am I actually feeling right now?” Journaling helps too, even if it’s messy.
