Boundaries within Yourself & Those Around You Discussion
Tw: Boundaries, Open Discussion, Inner feelings, and mentions of different relationships
Now that the trigger warning is out of the way, Good morning everyone it's InsightfulPhoenix/Phoe again with another deep discussion that I feel does not get discussed enough. This discussion is called Boundaries with Yourself & Those Around You this discussion would fall under the sections Section 1: Being ( Inner compass), section 4: Collaborating (Communication skills) and section 5: Acting ( Courage).
So what are Boundaries? Boundaries are a mental divide that is created to implement ones self-respect and self-care stay in tact. It is always normal to have boundaries and it is also a part of Self-care, and does not need to be understood by anyone other than yourself. How can you tell if someone is not listening to your boundaries, by either of these things pushback, testing limits, rationalizing/questioning and defensiveness. These are all ways to tell if someone is not wanting to listen to boundaries that you have set. What are these things really?
Pushback: They ignore that you mentioned a boundary and continue to do what they want.
Testing limits: They try to sneak, manipulate, or get one past you. They attempt to do what they want but in a way you might not notice.
Rationalizing/Questioning: They challenge the reason for your boundary and its validity.
Defensiveness: They challenge what you said or your character, or they make excuses about their behavior is okay
These are all ways that someone can push/step on your boundary. Now of course there are moments when a person is unintentionally crossing a boundary, because you have not told them yet or they just didn't know. Which is why it is always important to place boundaries with each person you meet, even at work. Which at work is easier said than done, but it can be managed through time, no rush to that! Each relationship in your life should always have their own set of boundaries, because not every person is the same or relationship is the same.
The way someone approaches your boundaries is another indicator of how much they respect you as a person, never let someone tell you more than once how they truly feel for you. I know it is easier said than done, but once you have the ability to stand up and place those boundaries, everything else will come falling into a balance🥰.
Questions timeeee:
1. Have you ever personally dealt with some pushing/stepping on your boundaries with any of the definitions listed above? An how long did it take you to notice?
2. What are some things that you have to work on when it comes to your boundaries? Why do you feel it needs to be altered?
3. How do you feel about your boundaries now after reading that they are natural and normal for self-care?
@InsightfulPhoenix Thank you for sharing such an insightful discussion on boundaries, Phoe. Setting and maintaining boundaries is indeed crucial for self-care. Your breakdown of indicators when someone is not respecting boundaries is very helpful. It's a reminder for us all to prioritize our well-being. As for your questions:
Yes, I have faced situations where my boundaries were pushed, and it took me some time to notice. It's a learning process.
I'm always working on being more assertive about my boundaries. I feel it needs to be altered for a healthier work-life balance.

You are absolutely welcome, I just wanted to bring out the mentions of boundaries that doesn't get spoken about enough and I felt like it should be. Boundaries are always seen as disrespectful, mean or cold when in reality it's only disrespectful, mean or cold to those that can no longer manipulate you.
Thank you for taking the time to participate and the questions, it makes me happy to see you feeling empowered after reading my discussion topic and relaying the feelings you felt at that time in your life💖.
