Mirrored Image vs Carbon Copy
tw: personality traits, inner thoughts, open discussions and mentions of outside influences on traits
Now that the trigger warning has been established, my name is InsightfulPhoenix/Phoe and I would like to discuss the topic Mirrored Image vs Carbon Copy this morning with all of you. You know the scientific terms Concave and Convex lenses from science class? These terms will be used in today's discussion, for those that do not know here are the definitions:
Mirrored Image: something that has its parts reversely arranged in comparison with another similar thing or that is reversed with reference to an intervening axis or plane.
Carbon Copy: A copy of materials
Concave: For Nearsightedness
Convex: For Farsightedness
This discussion will take place in the sections 2 Thinking (Perspective Skills), 3 Relating ( Empathy and Compassion) and 5 Acting ( Creativity).
When you think of a Mirrored Image, some of you would think of a sibling that is replicating a style or perhaps even a certain way of thinking because it's mirroring your every step. Some may even think that it's a Carbon Copy because it's a complete copy of everything you have done, even down to the mannerisms. What if I told you that both are correct in this situation. Mirror Imagery is similar but vastly different to a Carbon Copy and here is why. Mirror Imaging usually offers the person a chance to alter some of the styles, thoughts and even phrases they are using to convey it as a similar, but different approach. Carbon copying is ultimately just taking the credit for something that you thought long and hard over, and were being authentic in it's approach.
We could also use Concave and Convex in the same ways, here is why. Concave is for those that nearsightedness and can not see from far away, which we could take an say when someone has a distant thought of you, it is not an accurate depiction because they are not close to you in any sense to make an assumption of this nature. Convex is for farsightedness and can not see from close up, meaning that when someone has a view point of you from close up it does not mean they are accurate either, because they are still not quite correct on their viewpoint of you.
However with all of this said, it is still up to us as individuals to correct someone if they have a distant viewpoint of us or even a close up viewpoint of us, because it is not up to them on how we feel emotionally, mentally or even physically. Now one the power to stand from a distance and make comments on things they do not now, nor does the person standing within range.
Questions:
1. What are some ways that a person has thought of you in a Convex or Concave way?
2. Have you ever had someone try to carbon copy or mirror image anything from you before?
3. How do you feel after reading this forum?
@InsightfulPhoenix
Hey InsightfulPhoenix,
This is such a thought-provoking discussion, and I appreciate the depth you're diving into.
1. Convex or Concave Perspectives: Oh, for sure. I've had instances where people formed opinions about me based on a distant viewpoint. Like, they assumed I was a certain way because of what they saw from afar, missing the nuances and details that make up the real me.
2. Carbon Copy and Mirrored Image Encounters: Absolutely. I've had both experiences. Some folks tried to carbon copy my ideas, and it felt like they were taking credit for something I put my heart into. On the flip side, I've had friends who mirrored my style or thinking but added their unique twist. It's cool when it's a collaboration rather than just a copy-paste job.
3. Feelings After Reading: I'm walking away with a fresh perspective on how people perceive each other, and it's making me more mindful of my own judgments. It's like you've handed me a pair of corrective lenses for my emotional vision. 🤓
Thanks for sparking this conversation! How about you? What led you to explore these concepts, and what insights have you gained from your own experiences? 🌟
@InsightfulPhoenix I feel better because I'm not alone
I am so glad I was able to bring a fresh new take on emotional vision for you, as for me here are my takes on the questions asked @Tranquilechoes
- Convex and Concave experiences: I have had moments that people would be close and personal to me creating thoughts from distant people making assumptions of me, so it would become tricky occasionally. However, through time all it did was teach me that some are not meant for my authenticity.
- Carbon copy and mirror image experiences: I have had plenty of experiences with both of these things to be quite frank, I have had individuals completely copy a thought of mine, clothing attire and even copy my mannerism. I love with someone puts an authentic twist from something I have done, it makes me feel happy. I have also learned from being copied from that it means great minds think alike!
- I feel good knowing that I was able to bring perspective to something as unique as this, not many use Concave and convex lenses as a metaphore for emotional health, likewise with Carbon copying and mirror imagery.
@InsightfulPhoenix
