Empathy and Compassion

According to 7 cups, empathy is the ability to care about other people, and compassion is the drive to do so.

In my life, I use empathy daily. Empathy and compassion show people that you care about them, in turn fostering a deep or deeper connection with people. I use empathy mostly on 7 cups. I wanted to help other people, compassion, and that led me to become a listener on 7 cups. Since then, I have felt so much more fulfilled because I feel like I am genuinely helping people.

The author of “Empathy” (A part of the HBR Emotional Intelligence series), Daniel Golemon, once said, “Empathy is the bridge that connects hearts and minds”. My story is an example of this quote. I displayed empathy, and I created so many new connections on a deeper level than I have ever achieved before with other people. Compassion and empathy are truly amazing, and I believe that everyone should do it. So...

Give an example of a time where you displayed empathy, it could be big or small. Why did you do it and how did you feel after it?

Have a good day! Thank you for reading my post! ♥️

empathy comes in all sizes and even small. I try to show empathy in responding to posts or in everyday situations.

It feels good to know you have helped even in a small way.

Thanks for responding to my message!

I feel the same way about empathy. Empathy is about helping other people, and it feels good to see your impact on someone.

It was really a meaningful message, It is what most people are missing nowadays, many people lack basic human feelings, we see people asking for charity or any help, and people dont even make the effort to help them

You bring up an interesting point, and, unfortunately, a true one. I like to remind myself that I can display empathy, and help others out, even when other people don't.

I try my best to be empathetic and compassionate in my daily life. My partner recently went through a really difficult situation, that affected his personal life and mental health. Of course, I am there for him no matter what, and I will be there to support him through all hardships. This was particularly difficult, though, because it led to him not being able to consistently talk with or see me, his energy was drained, he was struggling. I could've easily taken this personally, but instead I chose empathy. I tried to understand where he was coming from, and to see his perspective. He wasn't trying to hurt me, he was hurting. Things are much better now, and he's since apologized for his lack of response and communication. Choosing empathy is difficult sometimes, but it always is worth it, for everyone involved.

Your situation with your partner is truly touching. It's great that you two figured things out, even if you had a bit of a rough patch. Your empathy is quite admirable!
