A Fox's Venting Burrow

I wanted to make this space for me to be able to vent or rant about stuff, because I usually feel better after getting stuff out rather than have it kept inside my head on repeat. Some might be rude stuff because I'm human and things can bother me, I don't want to be mean to anyone directly but I feel it's better to let it out in a safe space than keep it eating me up inside.

I don't mind replies

Wow "you're not in junior high anymore" didn't realized emotions stopped then. Sorry folks, not allowed to cry past junior high -___-

It kind of bothers me seeing my friend constantly posting pictures of herself going places and being indoors with a bunch of people without masks...like... you're supposed to be in lockdown...

Especially watching her proposal video from October, when they were supposed to be in lockdown, yet there's this huge party with so many people, then of course they're all hugging and kissing her after the proposal... it's supposed to be a sweet moment but for me I can't help but think why they are gathered like that, she's just part of the problem why this stupid thing isn't ending!!

I feel so pointless and alone

It's so annoying to me to see some member accounts put a suspicious long list of "disorders" they have, that are sometimes conflicting or probably not what the person thinks it is, and see the member is a teen. What doctor on the planet would diagnose a teen with all those things, it's usually self-imposed and just the teen wanting to have all these "labels". It's annoying. It's unhelpful. It makes mental illness a "fad" or like it's "cool" to be neurodivergent. It's gross to see so many teens treating it this way

@FoxPrince Not just teens. In this article, published today, a psychiatrist describes how:

"…patients come to me demanding that they be diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder and are sometimes very angry and offended if they are not."

So I suspect that what we're seeing here at 7 Cups in terms of self-diagnosis backed up by anger and offence, is just the tip of an iceberg.

@RarelyCharlie thanks for sharing, it was a good, but sad, read. I feel similarly, I worry a lot that it's even the influence of online spaces driving people to view every symptom they experience as being indicative of a disorder, rather than just the normal range of human experience, and always clawing for that new label, to "fit in" with other groups who use those labels or diagnoses...to the point where this is harming them from actual recovery rather than helping at all. And no one can say much against it, because then you're unsupportive or don't get it or being invalidating. How many times a day do I see posts or videos online along the lines of "little known signs of [insert disorder]" and it's just so broad and generic and applies to not only many disorders but also not disorders, just difficult experiences... and then the comments are filled with "wow, maybe I have this" or "I knew I had this!" etc...we push so much towards validation and acceptance that no one is allowed to question, or to suggest things are not a disorder and instead just a collection of experiences that, yes, suck, but don't necessarily mean a disorder. I don't know, my thoughts about it are scrambled but it makes me feel so sad seeing so many people online not doing themselves any favours and falling into these manipulative "sources"
