Feeling Angry or Grumpy? Share your frustrations!! Let it out!
I'm tired about hearing how Millenials were all coddled children who were given participation awards and told that we were special. I experienced none of this and find it offensive when people make blanket statements about an entire demographic of people.
My mom pissed me off quite a bit today. My anger may have been somewhat out of proportion for the situation, but I've been trying to quit smoking, and I already have a lot of built up frustration about my mom anyways, so when she says or does shitty things, it seems to piss me off a lot more than when anyone else does it.
Anyway, I've had a broken foot for awhile. It's a stress fracture, and it happened while running. Today, my mom and I were having a conversation about exercising, and I said something along the lines of how I had been doing well with sticking to a work out before I had broken my foot, and I had. I had been at it for over a month...but my mom laughed and said something along the lines of "Yeah, you worked really hard for that two days." and when I corrected her, she kept arguing with me about it, then she changed to saying that my workout didn't count as working out in her opinion.
The thing is, my mom is always really full of shit, and every time she recalls something about someone else, especially my dad or I, it's always remembered in her bullshit way that makes us look or sound worse than we actually are or that discredits us in some way, so that was another example of it. I know she does it intentionally. She has to know better. There's no way she doesn't.
@robokitty I also go though this with my mother every single day! She makes up so much bullshit and makes me sound like I'm the worst person in the world when I do my best to make her happy and do things on a daily basis so we don't argue but it's never good enough cause I'm so lazy and I don't do anything at all. Even when I do the things she complains about. Can never win
did my post get dleeted i cant find it
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. FUCK. Can't fucking keep my mind level. Or so it feels. I know that overall I keep myself afloat nine times out of ten. Then this happens where I feel tired, I can't keep the wheels from turning, it feels like my mind is a bike and I have peddled so fast that the wheels have left me behind and I can't slow them down or even catch up to them so they KEEP TURNING. Since I can't do anything, I pace. Pace to try to figure out if there is something productive I could do that is also distracting but, before I know it, too much time has passed and the day is almost over. I have spent my whole day thinking. I am as exhausted as I would be if I had actually done something. Racing my mind to try to grab hold of it for once has me tired. I just want to sleep now and that is a shame.
@calibor24 Hi Calibor24. Obsessional thinking is so hard to get a handle on. In my own practice, I'd say half the people deal with the same thing. Generally speaking, it helps a lot to learn how to approach those perserverations from a different perspective. So instead of trying to stop them, we start learning how to NOT stop them. To let them do their thing until they wear themselves out. You don't stand in the waves on the beach as you punch the waves trying to stop them (hopefully) because you know it would be futile. Just so, trying to stop your thoughts is equally futile. The acquired skill -- and it is a skill that takes lots of practice to get the hang of -- is to sit on your mental beach while those waves of thoughts come and go. You're not trying to stop them anymore. You're simply watching them. Or like the Otis Redding song, you're sittin' on the dock of the bay, watching the tide roll away. Does that make sense?

Every morning, I wake up so angry with the Universe. I do end up calming down after some meditation and mindfulness, but I just wish I could wake up and not be so angry. I'm angry because I've done all this work over the past few years to be a better version of myself. I am compassionate and loving and try to be understanding. I apologise and accept fault when I am wrong. Yet, I've had 6 people that I love just up and walk away from me in the past three years. Each telling me how great I am right before they leave. One was my long distance ex. So, I understand that. As with the other guy after him who was a long distance friend/lover. But three of my high school friends just abandoned me when I needed them most after that breakup. I met this amazing guy back home and for a year just kept in touch as friends and hung out when I was home because he wasn't what I wanted, a guy to get me out of my home town. The more I grew through my studies, the more I realised that I might be letting a great guy go just because he lived in my home state. I gave him a chance and everything was so wonderful. It wasn't perfect, but he seemed willing to communicate and work on things. I left for one last job and we had made plans for me to stay. He ended things over email 2 and 1/2 weeks . Something happened and he won't really tell me what it was or talk about it, but seems to blame me for the breakup. I've seen so many mean and selfish people end up happy in relationships and get what they want in life and I'm 32 and I still can't catch a break. Everyone says I'm an amazing person and kind and honest and genuine...so, why am I losing friends and not able to find lasting love? Is the Universe laughing at me for not being 'normal'? :( I just wish I could figure out what's going on. If I'm doing something wrong, I would like to know so I can fix it...
@warmheartedHuman2014 Hi Human, no, you're not doing anything wrong... EXTERNALLY. Treating everyone else with compassion, being patient and understanding... great stuff. What you might want to think about improving a bit is how you are treating yourSELF. You know the Golden Rule, about loving others as yourself? Well that's a two-way street. If you are "compassionate and loving and try to be understanding" to others, yet treat yourself in opposite manner, that's toxic and dysfunctional. In the interest of being an authentic human, you have a responsibility to treat yourself with the same level of compassion, love and understanding that you show others. It's also about letting go of comparisons. Sure, it stinks that others are better off emotionally, financially or whatever, but to compare yourself to them is to AGAIN engage in casually abusing yourself. To compare yourself is to treat yourself with a LACK of compassion, with hate, and ZERO understanding. To realize this and course-correct takes tons of emotional awareness. It also takes a good bit of time and effort to learn how to do, but if you approach these moments of frustration with more curiosity and courage, if you forgive your mistakes, if you have more compassion for yourself, if you embrace your vulnerability, if you show more gratitude for the good things you do have, if you make peace with your imperfections, if you accept that life is in a constant state of flux and that everything is always changing, if you stop comparing yourself to others (not to mention that there are ten times more people WORSE off than you - a fact which you probably don't think about much) and embrace who you really are, then you will absolutely get better.
@BloomCounseling Thank you, Bloom. I'm trying. I just wish it didn't feel like everything was going wrong at the same time. Everyone thinks I'm a strong independent woman, but I long for the day where I don't have to be so darn resilient and I can be safe being every facet of who I am around someone who loves me flaws and all just as I love them.
I hate you, for treating me like a kid even when im in my twenties. I hate you, for demanding whats best for you and not for me. I hate you, for being such parent who think about herself only, not accepting people suggestion and get yourself stuck in your own situation blocking all improvements. You think you are stay young, so you act like teen even you are in your midlife. All you care is yourself first, eventhough you have responsibility to spend time with your daughter.
When people say you have to be more kind to me, you say im different. you say i need to be treated as bad as how i am in your eyes. Well, i never want you to be my mother though. You said im different, not good enough, you never wanna have daughter like me, then i said its a hell for living with you.
You take me from my father, you take me from my childhood good memories, you take me from my happiness.
All you think is you.
Now whats your answer ?
I'm so frustrated with everyone i feel like no one understands me or even cares to try........
