I need to get rid of nostalgia somehow

It's kinda hard for me to figure out and even harder to describe, but something I noticed about myself is that I have some nostalgia (from my old religious days like a couple years ago) coming to the surface and skewing everything. Making me desire certain things that aren't even there. Just because I thought a supernatural being promised them to me years ago. I guess it really messed me up in the long run. I also hate that the resurfacing positive hopeful connectedness feelings are honestly the best feelings I've had in a long time. I just wanna soak it in and roll around in it. But knowing reality makes me not able to experience them to the fullest extent anyway so I'm just kinda caught in this stupid in-between.

Also kinda tying into it and...well...I think that's where it all spring up from...certain types of music triggers that certain mindset that I had back in the day. The one that felt optimistic toward people and the future, the one that feels like everything is going to be ok, the one where I feel connected to people, the one that felt that something HUGE and AMAZING is just around the corner.

Maybe I shouldn't be so vague and scatterbrained in this but idk some of the details are honestly super embarrassing and weird lol.

Eck. Disappointed in my brain right now.

One of the best way to stop living in the past is to live in the present. Go outside, do something that you normally wouldn't. Smell the fresh air.

My first suggestion is to find it in your heart to show yourself the compassion & patience you would show others.

Change is neither easy nor does it come as quickly or in the manner we desire.

Sounds & and smells are often over looked as triggers. Keep on looking for help; it's a sign strength, not weakness.
