There was a common mistake in the 90s to think that the ‘mon series were monothematic ‘collect them all merchandise tie-ins but b/c that view pervaded it led to the disparaging of other ‘mon anime series. Monster rancher and Digimon both took cues from its confluences with tokusatsu shows and mecha anime while still remaining w/in more standard isekai adventure fare given how its merchandising never caught on as to be as ‘blown out as Pokemons.

Narutaru was an incompetent attempt of a deconstruction whereas season 3 of Digimon did somewhat better * but it still wasnt a ‘full deconstruction in that it still didnt ‘fully challenge its own genre. Of course we could see 'luridness coming if the whole ‘children with monster partners premise was treated more realistically but it bothered me how so much Dostoyevsky or Ligotti tinted analysis of specieism and animal welfare** was skipped out in favour of the tensions btw human characters which werent very well done at that. Run-of-the-mill anime underage pettiness, megalomania, arguable child abuse and incest included ‘~ >~< ..

*particularly with what it showed in earlier episodes with showing the different attitudes the first three tamers had before delving into Juris anxieties and arguable inferiority complex when the season wound down.

**Either that entirely or mixed in to some percentage w/the whole reveal that the monster partners were the dragons from world mythologies. The whole ‘preternatural beings trope was barely explored as well!:what a missed opportunity.

A part of me kind of wonders how long it would take for a thorough deconstruction of ‘mon series to manifest but given the state of the Jpop industry I doubt and can understand and I suppose accept if it never happens.

Among the issues with any further live action Pokemon adaptations to pull off competent production design* is the amount of research which would need to be put in and ‘where to go.

Even before the MCU movies and the more evident confluence it would have on the comics around ~end of Phase 1/the early 10s/‘Marvel NOW! post-Siege and AvX era, the Fox studio X-men movies knew you needed to get the ‘ethos and messages of entire storylines at least w/out having to go straight ‘panel for panel like the non-HBO Synder ‘Watchmen movie did to mixed reception. It could afford to ignore animated X-men takes w/out taking to much of a blow. The then recently ended 90s ‘Fox kid cartoon; when James Marsden as Cyclops said ~What were you expecting?. Yellow and black spandex, my inner 8 year old said Yes. Yes I did >:I !. Thats why I picked ‘Pokemon 2000 instead but my mom theatre hopped btw you and us[ me and my sister]. I mean I would eventually get my request answered w/‘X-men first class but it took a while, *a worthwhile*.

W/Pokemon so much of more of the popularity has come from the games and anime instead of the games *and manga*. This can skew expectations and I would definitely recommend leaning to looking into the anime and manga b/c the burden of narrative is more a viability which Ash, ever-such-a-treasure-Alola-victory-included. But b/c (i) not nearly as many know about that element and (ii) following and researching manga for competent adaptations has not nearly been as often as American comics yet, I cant really see a competent adaptation or necessary adaptation(s) of ‘Gen.I events based more on the games and manga being done for another +10 if not ~15-30 yrs . ‘Alita was encouraging.

* I say this b/c I care about it so much: the texture mapping in ‘Detective Pikachu passed by the skin of its teeth

To fixate on aseity is to never be that you are enough.

When it comes to clinging on pornography there is something to be said about passing by someone, say a woman while out and doing a mundane chore but who reminds you of a performer. The reoccurence of that is pt. of the addiction.

When it comes to searching for old media/entertainment it still has it's value w/video games b/c **they are interactive**. It's not like a movie, music piece or text which is nearly always static** and doesn't change in how it's 'consumed', hence preservation of it can be brought across different platforms. Not quite so w/video games. Think about the arrangement for button controls if you go on an online simulator and the programming that goes into making that run smoothly. That's even before the whole factor of searching out for obscure titles.

I realize how a lot of things ppl consider mere entertainment I take so seriously it can be turned into work.

It's an increasing sign of 'being out of touch' to laugh at ppl who that given the direction of internet culture. I'm not saying that, that internet culture is healthy but the direction of doing that increasingly so much so that being a Youtube celebrity is a more popular 'dream job' for children born this century than being an astronaut, is telling something.

When it comes to practicing art, I find it deeply difficult to believe that every attempt is valid.

My usual weakness—comparing myself to others.

My mind is so active I don't even really trust myself to 'type in time' to express something.
