So much gratitude for doordash/instacart/food/service workers

Today on Christmas Eve, it's not the best circumstances for me that I would wish for myself or anyone for that matter.

But especially this: yesterday, as I was leaving to finally get groceries after finally getting my EBT card reinstated after all month without much food and finally feeling okay enough to drive, got in my car to pick up my groceries, and my Volvo wouldn't start. I know too little about cars to do anything to troubleshoot it, and my stages of grief went straight to acceptance. I just didn't have time or energy to sulk on it and I still don't. I know I can't do anything about it the next few days, will need financial assistance with fixing it as well, if it's not a simple fix it will need a tow. It's an instance where I know I will need to rely on others for help. I'm kind of proud of realizing this so swiftly, not that I think skipping stages of grief is good at all but I would remain in anger or depression for a long time about things lately as my disabilities become more debilitating and I find I have to rely on others for help for basic things.

So I left my car, went back inside without any prospect of yummy food. Yummy food is all I want spending Christmas alone, I think this is very relatable. Its Christmas Eve Eve at this point, I'm basically completely depressingly alone and broke, other than my stepfather allowing me to use their door dash and instacart accounts to make up for them being unavailable, rude and absent from my life. But it really came in handy last night and today.

I got a yummy dinner delivered last night, I got ice cream, and did some hobbies I enjoy instead of thinking about my car, which I can currently do NOTHING about. I don't want to let it have the chance to make my already sad holiday even worse-- I'll work on it after the holidays pass and make do until then! Because my local doordash/instacart/food/service workers have my BACK! 💪

When I woke up this morning, Christmas Eve!, with some fret and holiday hope I placed my grocery order on instacart feeling so bad, it was a normal 2 week load of groceries so 15-20 items. And it's Christmas Eve for darn's sake, I do not think people should be working! I really hate when I can't tend to my own needs, like driving to a store and picking out my items, but I've had to get used to this with my seizures lately. And I can't just eat canned green beans and bran flakes on Christmas all alone, I would never let someone I love do that. So I took action! And luckily, the same sweet girl who usually would complete my instacart orders grabbed it and I was so relieved! I gave her a holiday tip and it was so nice to see her smile and say merry Christmas when she dropped off the groceries. I was worried for nothing, and in fact I am just so grateful for small moments like that, they are like a reprieve. That was such a nice moment for me today, when I would have otherwise had no interaction.  I really appreciate my local doordash/instacart/food/service workers so much, I have been relying on them a lot and they always pull through. I always tip because it is necessary and a good way of showing my gratitude. It's expensive but having disabilities is expensive and I always pay people for their hard work. I have laundry delivered and picked up, workers/drivers make/bring breakfast on mornings I need it, or late night ice cream when I need it, or even complete grocery orders on days like Christmas Eve when I really need it. I am just really thankful for all the service workers in my area, I am so grateful that I know I can rely on them. Not only does it make my life easier but it helps my health, mentally and physically, to know I have reliable service workers around me. If you are one of these people, thank you so much for what you do! I hope you know how much you are helping.

Aww that's so lovely to know, made me smile knowing I could make you smile. Smiles are what matters the most, right next to the warm feeling of being heard and seen. The little hearts and a few kind words go a long long way, thanks for re-confirming it for me today and for encouraging me to continue doing so as much possible. And many thanks for the warm wishes, means a lot to mee. 🥰
