The title explains itself.
If you're interested in the ramblings of a middle-aged man with chronic conditions who, at times, sees things a little too clearly for his own good, then read on.
Sometimes I get political, but it won't be all the time.
I don't mind comments in general but if you're going to differ with what I write, that's fine--as long as you can explain your position clearly & reasonably. Rants, shouting & general incoherence will be ignored or flagged, depending on the situation. Try to remember that not everyone else in this world holds your beliefs.
Every so often I may post art or snapshots of projects I'm working on.
If you're still interested after reading all the above, great. (I do wonder at how much time you have on your hands, though)
I just sewed up two tiny holes in the cr0tch of my thicker pair of jeans. Scavenged 'em several months ago...they looked next to new at the time. Turned out they fit me almost perfectly, but the cr0tch & inside part of one of the legs ripped the first time I wore them. I've patched 'em up five times since then. All for a pair of work pants....
If the d**ned jeans start coming apart in the cr0tch one more time I'm gonna hack the legs off, cut them both lengthwise & use the denim in a future project. And throw out what's left over. I don't have time to phuk around with clothes, not right now.
@slowdecline48 I do this too lol. Once they start tearing it never seems to stop. I don't think they make jeans or any pants like they used to. The denim seems thinner 😕
@mytwistedsoul I don't usually buy retail (that's for other people)...the main disadvantage is one is limited to whatever one can find, whether you scavenge or buy secondhand. If you actually go shopping for work clothes, look for items where the weight of the fabric is specified. If the denim or cotton duck is 9-oz. it is passable; if it's 12-oz. or close to it, that's better. Also don't buy Carhartt...the brand got popular among hipsters & millennials. Once that happened, Carhartt started cutting corners on its pants & other products because why not, since everyone & his brother was wearing their stuff. 😒
@slowdecline48 Carhartt is freaking too expensive for my blood. Same with Levi's. Wranglers - walmart. Under 20 bucks (barely) they used to be 15 😕 I hate shopping for clothes lol
Somebody please tell me he's bluffing. Oompa-Loompa has to be bluffing, in order to make the EU & China reconsider their current tariffs. I'm afraid he's not, in which case we will all pay the cost for his foolishness. I said it before: tariffs are inherently inflationary. And the Federal Reserve has been trying to ratchet inflation back down to 2% for the last four years now. It could maybe get it to 2.5% if Trump & co. would give it a chance.

Worked on a couple projects today even though my migraine/formerly Meniére's/whateverthephukitis has been acting up slightly...made progress, but had to push myself. I may pay for this folly tomorrow... nothing to do but rest, wait & see.

Compassion is wonderful...but. Having been in Cups for a little while now, it has only reinforced a lesson I learned earlier in real life:
Some people are beyond help. Some people you just can't reach. There is no point in having a conversation with such creatures; it is unlikely you will learn anything useful from such damaged minds...the smart move is avoidance. Do not waste your time trying to achieve the impossible with the hopeless. They will only drain your valuable energy & leave you with nothing to show for it. Leave them to their inner demons, & go achieve what those poor souls never will.
@slowdecline48 You're right. I've walked away from a few like that because it took too much energy. Some of them do get pretty nasty when you don't meet their expectations. That's always fun 😅
@slowdecline48 you can preach, mate, but theres plenty of people like me who dont walk away that easy xD but who knows. Experience teaches 🤓
@unassumingEyes Oh it teaches, for sure. Let's not forget that you're 16 & I'm over twice your age...
When I was in my early twenties, I wanted to go out & save the world too. A lot of people go through such a phase; some people stay like that & make helping others in some way their personal mission. Good for them...& good for the world, I guess. But at some point I figured out a few things:
- I am just one man & can only do so much.
- Effort & energy are most effective when concentrated on a single goal or small target area. Diffusion weakens; focus strengthens.
- Not everyone wants to be saved. That might sound strange but it's true...some people get comfortable where they are, even if it's in a bad place.
- Not everyone will be grateful for your help...some people will even resent you for it.
- Just because someone has problems doesn't mean (s)he will agree with your solutions for them.
@slowdecline48 i understand your points 2 onwards- cups itself made some of those glaringly clear to me. But point 1, ah, that is a struggle to admit

It will start to ebb in late March, early April. Meanwhile I'm living on OTC stuff for congestion, cold & flu...if my liver is still functional in 15 years from now I'll be lucky 😆

Fun fact: this is not new. Bubonic plague originated somewhere in China too, a long time ago.... Flea-ridden rats onboard trading ships coming back from Asia brought the plague to medieval Europe. That is how the Black Death came about.
Note to the CPC: This wouldn't be a problem if y'all would install & maintain decent security & sanitation procedures at your laboratories. Perhaps you should work on that, & on keeping your open-air food markets clean & free of animals from endangered species instead of what you've been working on...y'know, like enslaving & sinicizing the Uighurs, wiping out what's left of Tibet, wearing down Taiwan while plotting to take it over & pumping pro-China/anti-US propaganda into the news media of every country in Central & Southeast Asia.

Saturday I was out all afternoon...did some driving. Made sure the tires are full.1 I had a nice dinner for once. Definitely enjoyed it because it's the last I'll ever have when not at home for a good while...a year, maybe more. Finally took a hot bath.
Now it's Sunday so I ain't doin' diddly-💩 or goin' nowhere. On Sundays it is best to leave the public space to the church people, as they are migrating & eating...
...& I'm tired.
1Air pressure in tires is one of my weird little obsessions. I deflate & fill up auto tires once a week; when I'm cycling I do it every time before I ride. That way they never lose air.

🤔 ...think I gotta build my workbench this week. It will be necessary once I'm on the land, for sure.
It won't be big or fancy. I'm not a cabinetmaker; that isn't the kind of work I'll have to do. The bench doesn't have to be elaborate, but it must be solid. Ideally it should not be too difficult to transport too, since I will have to move it around the property for different purposes.
Fortunately, I've thought of a couple options for this. Stay tuned, folks. 📺

Gashed the tip of my thumb about 20 minutes ago.
It's no big deal by itself....when you do what I do, minor injuries are par for the course. Still, I did not need this 💩 to happen right now. It'll slow me down, & the last thing I want to do right now is go slowly.

@mytwistedsoul 😂 My default response is duct tape & two-part epoxy, but I don't think they would be appropriate in this case!...
...gonna wait til Wednesday to heal up enough so I can work. Past that point, I will not wait.
