my journal: various subjects, opinionating, CW at times
The title explains itself.
If you're interested in the ramblings of a middle-aged man with chronic conditions who, at times, sees things a little too clearly for his own good, then read on.
Sometimes I get political, but it won't be all the time.
I don't mind comments in general but if you're going to differ with what I write, that's fine--as long as you can explain your position clearly & reasonably. Rants, shouting & general incoherence will be ignored or flagged, depending on the situation. Try to remember that not everyone else in this world holds your beliefs.
Every so often I may post art or snapshots of projects I'm working on.
If you're still interested after reading all the above, great. (I do wonder at how much time you have on your hands, though)
uuuurrrrrgghhh
I should cook something... Took my pasta sauce out of the freezer four nights ago. It's in the fridge now & I should use it, but...phuck.
Right now I'm nothing but a bag of bones, midsection fat, aches & pains.
Don't feel like doing anything. ....maybe soaking in a hot bath. That's it. I am too worn out to stand at the oven, lift pots & pans, any of it.
Phucksticks. 😤
...."FML", as the kids say.

P.S. After slumping over in the office chair for a while I ordered from Papa John's instead. Not great but it's edible, & I didn't have to cook. So sue me. 😜
...also churned out some doggerel earlier today, before doing my sea anemone impression in my chair.
Well well... I went down an Internet rabbit hole today. There was a detour, I followed it & found myself in your land, @unassumingEyes ...again. Am guessing I didn't end up anywhere near your location, wherever it is:
The LoC
Were I a merc or a military contractor, that place would definitely count as potential profit.
Gotta stop this sleeping in the afternoon/evening & then staying up all night... S**t. It only works when you have sources of light in your home & wherever else you go. That's true of urban areas but once I'm on my land most of my light will come from the sun, at first...
...still gotta get a generator. At least for times when I really need electricity. My power tools have batteries, after all. So much to do, & never enough time or energy...

The mallet could be used as it is right now...it's serviceable, for sure. But it's a tiny bit heavy for my taste. The head should be trimmed & tapered toward the handle. Also I want to flatten the striking face & add a thin layer of wood to it. Water oak is fine but something denser & harder would extend its working life.
Would like to slim down the handle some more, but at this point there isn't time for that.
Really need to manscape...I have werewolf arms now.
Ya know, when dead people (& animals) come to you in your dreams...it gets a bit annoying after a while.
Sure I'm interested in history & the past...but not particularly in my own, facryinoutloud.
Can't I have some interesting dreams? Pleasant ones? Used to get them all the time when I was younger...
...got to make a lot of photocopies tomorrow. Right now I'm a bit dizzy....flareups suck, even mild ones.
...so much for photocopies, at least for now. Sh1t-a-brick.
I'm not complaining too much, though.
If you keep your eyes open & your ears pricked, every so often you see how some people--maybe a lot--have it worse than you by an order of magnitude... The usual saying is "there but for the grace of God go I." I never say that because I find it self-centered. Who are you to believe you're so d*mn special, that a deity has protected you from the misfortunes you see in other people's lives?... (There's also the question of why a presumably omnipotent compassionate god allows such bad luck & trouble to occur in the first place, but that's for a different post)
No...my version is "if it weren't for the luck of the draw, I'd be there instead of him/her."
@slowdecline48 in Islam they say God tests who He loves more, so that after resurrection they will have more rewards for bearing it. Its all very confusing
@unassumingEyes In other words, Islamic theodicy. It makes sense that someone (a sheikh?) would come up with that answer... In Judaism there are several theodicies, including one like what you described. For some of our theologians, this became particularly important in the 20th century for obvious reasons.
...god*mmit. I think it's come back.
I'm going to get a neti pot & use it. Maybe that'll help.
My body is a piece of junk. Worthless. My mind is the only quality feature about me.
@slowdecline48 Oh man 😞 hope it helps
@mytwistedsoul Me too.
A thought occurred to me: what if it's not the pollen doing this?...it could be the apartment. Since the winter pollen storm began I've mostly been staying inside.
If so then I'm gettin' the h€ll outta Dodge. Fast.
@slowdecline48 You could be right! If there's mold or something anywhere it could be the cause of all the trouble
I mean it is an apartment building they usually don't put more into fixing things then they have to and with the heat and humidity it could be a breeding ground for all sorts of allergens 😬
@mytwistedsoul Today is the start of an experiment: sleeping with my front door slightly open, with the chain on. Maybe fresh air from outside would help, if stale air in the apartment (& whatever is floating around in it) is what's giving me all this trouble.
Also ordered a couple neti pots way early this morning...hopefully they'll get here before I pack the toiletries & bathroom stuff.
@slowdecline48 Hopefully it helps and doesn't make it worse. Cause that would be my luck 😅 It does seem logical though, especially if you've been staying inside
