✉️ Last Letter To My Symptom Series: Week 6

✉️Letter to my Symptom Series The Last Week: Chronic Pain

Welcome back to the letter to my symptom series. I want to let you guys know that this will be the last letter to my symptom series week as i thunk we covered quite a lot of ground. Thanks everyone for participating through this. I will make a big post with all the weeks and my thank you so keep reading. This week, we are writing a letter to a relentless, exhausting, and deeply challenging companion: Chronic Pain.

Chronic pain can radiate through our bodies, drain our physical energy, and make even the simplest movements feel like an impossible battle.

It is incredibly easy to feel angry at our bodies because pain feels like an uninvited thief stealing our freedom and comfort. But pain is ultimately our nervous system’s loudest alarm system. While chronic pain can often malfunction and fire when it shouldn't, it is rooted in a fierce desire to protect us, forcing us to slow down, pay attention, and care for ourselves when we are pushing past our physical limits.

So this week, we will acknowledge the protective intent behind our pain, but we will also negotiate a gentler truce with our bodies. We will listen to its demand for care and pacing, without letting it completely define our identity or steal our joy.

✏️ How to participate:

Write a 5-to-10 sentence letter to your chronic pain, acknowledging its intense presence and its demand for physical care, but setting boundaries so it doesn't entirely overshadow your life.

Example:

Dear Chronic Pain,

I often feel so much anger and resentment toward you for the way you limit my days and disrupt my peace. However, I am learning to understand that your loud, agonizing presence is born from a desperate attempt to protect me and force me to pay attention to my physical body. Thank you for reminding me that I am fragile and that I cannot simply power through everything without consequences. But while I acknowledge your warning to pace myself, your constant, heavy grip can feel entirely suffocating and unfair. I promise to treat my body with more gentleness, respect my physical limits, and practice pacing, but I need you to dial back your intensity so I can still find moments of joy and comfort. Let's work toward a truce where my body is a place of healing, not a constant battlefield.

Mr. Pain,

See, I know you care... And I know all about the intricate systems of nerves, it's fine craftswork. It's just, when you use your first name, Chronic, do you even actually want to get better? Like, I do, and that's why I exercise parts of my body. You always seem to want me to stop before I'm ready, is there a reason for that? If you want me to believe that, actually let me lose more weight so that you don't have to bother my knees so much.

dear  Chronic Pain

i know your there to warn me and to in end help me to slow down  take care of self but will admit  at times i get very angry at you for being in my life  for hurting my whole body 24/7 and more higher pain when i over do things  so yes you make life harder to live but i know your there for a reason that you did not come into my life to hurt me but your there due to the abuse and body getting stuck in physical  fight or flight mode

but i  setting a boundaries  on you one is that i not allow you to rob me of living my life best i can  that i am going to still do things i can do even if your flaring up more then normal but within this i also listen to you slow down when you warn me to as i know you not there to harm me your just part of the effects of the years of abuse on me that i deal with daily
