So I have been writing various journals over the last few and one is long form that is very very personal. I also have other notebooks I use to jot down ideas, goals, random thoughts and I am trying to start a bullet journal practice, I’ve got a notebook to start that.

One of my random notebooks was looked through this morning by my wife and instead of trying to understand it’s just my way of trying to organize thoughts and flush ideas out. It turned into an argument that I don’t communicate and when I tried to explain myself it was met with so much resistance. It left me feeling both embarrassed and like I was doing something wrong.

Idk, has anyone dealt with this kind of thing?

You are not doing anything wrong.  Sometimes if we do not communicate everything is our partner has not always been receptive or actually listen.

Mine tends to listen to first sentence then assume the rest not letting me share ideas especially if we are throwing out ideas to organize our thoughts.

It is my opinion, but couples are still individuals too. trying to make us feel wrong for that is cruel and shows lack of understanding on our partner's side.

I also agree, you’re not doing anything wrong. You’re taking your thoughts and ideas and writing them down. That’s a healthy way expressing yourself when you have no one to express yourself to. I am assuming that your wife read something about her in there and that’s why an argument happened. I only say that because I don’t see another reason of why she would have gotten so mad and starting an argument, if she didn’t read something about her or something about that can possibly destroy your marriage. On the other hand, I do think she needs to understand this is a way you express yourself.

I have read something that my husband has read but I have never openly admitted to actually reading his things. I don’t want him to get mad, that’s the first thing. But I usually take in as mental notes to myself to maybe change a couple things and work on things in our relationship that are bothering him. But that’s what I’ve done.

She didn’t read anything about her because ther wasn’t anything about her to read. It felt like I was being made fun of for putting my thoughts down about both things I had to do and things I wish I could do. I to have made mental notes when I’ve seen things “not for my eye” but have not caused an argument that would have been fruitless.

Aww.. well that’s unfortunate, she shouldn’t have made fun of you. People have things they wished they could’ve done, so I’m sure she does to. She shouldn’t have joked around what you jotted down on paper.
