I like this quote because it sums up the definition of a true leader quite well. A leader is not a person who uses their team for their benefit, but someone who guides and puts vision in their people.

It reminds us that a core part of leadership is communication, and that goes both ways.

I also have to note a quote that's been annoying me ever since I heard it. For context, this was from someone that my school paid to come in and give a talk on effective leadership, and the final "key" was to be enthusiastic, but the way this was said was that your response to how you're doing should always be "I feel great!" no matter what, in other words, pretend you never have problems, which to me is the opposite of leadership. Sometimes a leader needs to hold back a little, but it's also important to be authentic. People are more effective when they don't feel like they have to hide, and leaders can help model that.

Sharing your enthusiasm is important, but that doesn't mean you have to always pretend everything's great. Sometimes you have to admit you're overwhelmed.
