Aegosexual vs Cupiosexual
I'm fairly certain I'm ace, but I don't want to just use that label, similar to how I prefer the term Nonbinary to just transgender. Specifically I'm between aegosexual and cupiosexual, but I don't completely understand what the difference is. If anyone would like to help me out, please do!
@duckduckpotato hey there! I know, terms can be confusing, especially ones that are pretty similar :S as far as I understand it:
aegosexual is: when there is a disconnection between oneself and sexual target of arousal (eg. having fantasies or feeling aroused from erotica, but wouldn't want to actually participate in reality)
cupiosexual is: a person who wants a sexual relationship but doesn't experience sexual attraction. More about pleasure rather than attraction
So, I would say they're kind of "opposite"! Where someone aego probably doesn't want a sexual relationship but does feel arousal to fictional stuff (aka, not actually happening), whereas someone cupio would want a sexual relationship, even if they don't feel sexual attraction.
I could imagine someone being cupio AND feeling arousal from fiction/thoughts, but probably not the other way around...where you don't like the idea of yourself actually being in the act, but would want to be in the act? That doesn't seem compatible to me.
