I hate being asexual

I absolutely hate being asexual. It’s so incredible isolating. I still feel romantic attraction and I long to be in a relationship but I know I can never be in one because nobody will be okay with not having sex. I’m completely sex repulsed and I don’t think I could ever bring myself to do it no matter how much I liked someone. Dating was so much easier as a teenager because I could get away with not doing anything sexual by claiming we were “too young” but now as an adult there is no excuse. It’s something every adult relationship “needs” and I hate it.

It’s easy to say “just date fellow asexuals” but I swear I am already friends with every other asexual in the area and I don’t want to date my friends. Plus so few people are asexual.

I lie to everyone and say I don’t want to date but the truth is I really do and it hurts so much knowing I never could find someone to settle down with. I get asked out frequently but I reject every single one because I know they wouldn’t be okay with my asexuality. I just hate it.

@courteousOcean9942 aww I'm sorry sweetie 🙁 it can be very difficult to find a partner🙁 I'm asexual too🙂 but not only will I never have/want sex again, but I also would never date anyone. I think that's where we are different just having friends is enough for me. I have no idea what I can say to help you best, sorry😕 I hope others are this and are able to give you real suggestions. But in the meantime try to be kind to yourself 💖 gives you a giant tiny hug 💗

Have you tried going to asexual specific forums? I feel like they would have pretty good advice. But if you want to find someone who is okay with not having sex you kinda… have to keep looking. It sucks, and I know it’s hard to put yourself out there like that, but you’re not gonna find a relationship if you stop looking for one. I’m not trying to tell you you need to put up with that stuff, because you absolutely don’t, but there are people who feel the same way as you, you just have to find them. Maybe you could try dating apps?

Either way sending love and support, hopefully one day you can stop feeling this way because everyone deserves to love their LGBTQIA+ness. Your feelings are valid, but I promise things will get better eventually. <3

It's okay to date and not want sex. It can be hard to find a partner that is okay with that, and there are other types of relationships to. Some aces are in polycules where a partner can get those sexual needs met from another partner, and yours romantic and emotional needs still be met too.

Some people its something thats really important to them and some people its not. It just takes some time to sift through and set our boundaries.

There are many of us out here. Have you looked at Acespace? I have made quite a few friends there.

@courteousOcean9942 I'm sorry you have to deal with this, but you're not alone. We're all built and created in our own unique ways.  Embrace yourself and worry less about what others may think or say.
