LGBTQ+ Community Check-In: Week of April 10-16

Already the second week of April! Last week we celebrated Asexuality Visibility Day, it was good to see awareness and understanding growing in the community. 🖤🤍💜

This week on Friday (April 14) we mark the Day of Silence, GLSEN's annual day of action to spread awareness about the effects of the bullying and harassment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning students. On this day members of the LGBTQ+ and allies vow not to speak for one day to represent the silencing of LGBTQ+ voices and concerns. At the end of the day many LGBTQ+ people join together at rallies to break their silence and share their experiences and thoughts or reflections on the day.

It’s amazing how sometimes silence is what allows us to be heard.
