Homophobic parents… and i’m genderfluid.
Hi. I’m 15 years old and Assigned Male at Birth. I figured out a few months ago that i’m genderfluid. My parents are… well, homophobic. Not the throw you out of the house disown you homophobia but the make you feel uncomfortable and make hurtful comments that would break you homophobia. I can’t imagine telling them about my gender identity. I’m in tenth grade so I go to college in 2 years time, and I tell myself everyday to “just wait two years… only two years”. When those two years come buy, i’ll go to college out of state or maybe even out of my country(India), and i’ll do what I want and be free whilst barely talking to my parents again. However, these days almost every morning when I wake up I just get this sinking feeling that i’m not able to be myself… that just wearing what I want to wear (as in a dress or a skirt or makeup) would change my relationship with my parents forever… I just want to know how to make this sinking feeling go away. How to survive these “two years”.

Your situation sounds so difficult, having to pretend and hide, and knowing that something you can't help is not easy for people who're important to you to accept.
I'm wondering what spaces in your life are accepting and supportive of who you are. Something that helps a lot of people in similar situations is to find places where they can be themselves until they can be themselves all the time. Oh noo ah... i feel like i understand that- That sounds really painful, and if i think i'm on the smae page here, it really does. I find that making subtle chances can help sometimes.. like, i'm getting different glasses depending on the day. or you could go for more neutral clothes. Myself being afab- i'm getting a short haircut soon. You could take makeup to school with you and do it before class, and wash it off before going home? Hope it's going well, sending love and support
