So I'm 35 and totally closeted. I have had gender dysphoria since I was 5 or 6 but built up a mental wall convincing myself transitioning was only a dream. now I'm divorced and I know what I want. The dysphoria has gotten so bad I am getting panic attacks and depression. I'm ready to be the woman I have felt I was my whole life. but the clock is ticking, and I want to start HRT as soon as possible. will I get rejected if I have been living identifying as male and still am to my family? I'm from the US.

@Bughawk

As a family member to someone who was gay ( i know not the same) but we knew or suspected long before the person even hinted at or told us.

I would guess your family has some idea and might not be a shocked or surprised as you assume. I know worst case scenarios are probably what people hear of .... because when it goes smooth...... no drama no story.

If you feel you want to do this then you need to do it and all the things good bad or unknown that will follow your decision.

Bughawk,

To your question, "Will I get rejected if I have been living identifying as male and still am to my family?"

The LGBTQ community will embrace you regardless if you are comfortable coming out to family yet or not. Many of them have been in similar positions. Dysphoria is not fun and only you can decide the best choice for you. Best of luck on your journey ✌️
