Too old and not mentally strong enough to transition
I have come to terms that I am a trans woman. I know that I would have a better chance at finding peace and maybe a little happiness if I transitioned. However, I realize that I am not strong enough to handle doing it. My age, severe depression, anxiety and plain hatred of myself is proof positive that I am beyond the finish line for major life change.
Hello @Iamwhoiamwhoami
Congrats on figuring out your identity! Being a transwoman is a beautiful thing, so don't let anyone try to convince you otherwise. It sounds like you feel too old to transition on top of being too depressed and anxious. Plenty of people start their transition later in life. Transitioning in your early 20s and even teens is a relatively new thing. People have started taking hormones and getting surgeries at later ages for decades now. Of course, transitioning looks different for everyone. You are not required to take every physical or social step in order to "truly be transgender". Your identity is valid no matter what your transition looks like :) Here are some resources on gender expression that might be helpful. There are ways to present more feminine without taking estrogen. Maybe they will help alleviate some of that anxiety and depression you feel. I'll also link some resources for coping with gender dysphoria and transitioning in case you want to look into them. As I said, you are under no obligation to do anything you do not feel comfortable doing, but if physically transitioning is what you truly want, then you shouldn't let your age or mental health stop you :)
I wish I had the courage and strength to even just move to a “safe accepting” place and be around people like me.
