Bisexuals - What is it like dating the opposite-sex vs the same-sex?
Howdy it's Imp or Cog, just curious how dates are like for my fellow bisexual folks.
A couple of questions:
Q1) What's the difference between dating men or women for you?
Q2) What do you like about men or women?
Q3) Who are you more attracted to(or is it equal)?
Q4) Any other thoughts or stories you would like to share?
I'm a "tomcat" bisexual women (the equivalent of a chapstick lesbian or stem or soft butch lesbian) but...I haven't gone on a real date with a woman before, not really. (They usually want FWBs...or I turn them down for being to young for me).
My best friend growing up was a lesbian and many thought we were a couple...considering we cuddled and even held hands, but I didn't think much of it at the time. I also thought I was a lesbian for many years, then I thought I was a trans boy due to my culture background and traditionally masculine interests, then I detransitioned back to a woman and later discovered I'm bisexual in my late teens to early 20s.
As for my taste in men and women...
Men: I like masculine men, but I do like them to have more feminine personality traits. Men with long hair and a nice undercut is a bonus. Facial hair is fine, as long as groomed...if he has amazing cheek bones then ***, I would LOVE to see clean shaven ever once in a while! (If he's comfortable with that). I'm not a fan of aggressive men or one's who are TOO dominant...Just have PTSD after being with my abusive alcoholic ex fiancé...
Women: I tend to be more attracted to women than men, and prefer femme lesbians/bisexual does. I don't mind her wearing makeup or no makeup, as long as I am able to see her natural face at the end of the day. :) Hmm...I think I'll leave it there lol. I do have specific preferences on women, but for the most part if she's feminine and healthy it's cool.
Both: As long as they lead a healthy and active lifestyle, I am happy! Because that's what direction I'm trying to stay and be in. Someone who's spontaneous and likes to go on adventures! However, responsible too by not getting black out drunk (like my ex...) nor doing hard drugs (cannabis is fine, nothing harder).
I'm actually trying to dive into the world of dating women instead of men.
It's a bit different! I'm rather old school and prefer calls and face to face if possible.
I don't mind texting, but I tend to make long texts, so depending on the person...they may not like that so phone calls or audio clips are better...

Dating men and women is different for the main reason that the connection is different (keep in mind this is from a women’s pov). With men it’s less open at first and everything feel brand new like it’s never happened before if you mainly date women like I have. It’s almost like you can never really guess what’s gonna happen next but they are more closed off than women are.
With dating women as the same sex there’s a sense of familiarity that’s welcoming and comforting. Sometimes you can expect what’s going to happen and other times your hearts racing like with guys but it does come down to the person for both genders.
For women I like there fragility and how they are more open with there emotions. With guys you like they they stand strong and have a sense of mystery almost leading you on to ding out more making things exciting.
I have more of an attraction to women I think. It’s such a taboo for people to think all bisexuals are 50/50 with liking genders. It’s just not true, people have there preferences just like anything else.
A nice heartwarming story I have is when it was Christmas Eve and I was with my first girlfriend. We were with her family and her brother who was supposed to be asleep walked in on the presents being set up underneath the tree. Her parents played it off as that they were putting theirs under before they went to bed. My girlfriend at the time was upset that her little brother might have just stopped believing in santa so after she put him to sleep we went into her room and talked as I tried to calm her down. When we weren’t hanging out we would call and do stupid little buzz feed quizzes so to cheer her up and made her pull one up on her phone while I turned on some happy Christmas music and we spent the rest of the night laughing and celebrating the season/holiday.
