Carrying Pride Throughout the Year (Day 30 of Living Beyond a Label!)

There are lots of ways to carry the spirit of Pride into the rest of the year, from simply flying the Pride or other identity flags, or wearing it in your clothing to becoming an active member of your local Pride community.

You can make time to learn about LGBTQ+ history, stay informed about current events impacting the LGBTQ+ community around the world, even simply engaging politically, or you might decide to become more involved in activism.

You can also spread love and positivity, you may find yourself wanting to mentor and support others in the community, or to speak up and become an advocate or just strive to practice inclusivity. You can also amplify other LGBTQ+ voices and be an ally to all parts of the community and other marginalized groups.

Carrying pride can even be things like supporting LGBTQ+ owned businesses, celebrating LGBTQ+ art and culture, attending other LGBTQ+ events, perhaps even creating your own art and content. Or if you want, you can donate to or volunteer with various LGBTQ+ non-profit organizations.

Don’t forget taking care of yourself is another way to show pride, including recognizing and reflecting on your own journey and growth. Who knows, maybe even plan your own celebration? Or, if you just don’t want the party to stop you can travel to LGBTQ+ friendly destinations and/or  Pride events happening throughout the year in different places.

There are lots of ways to keep Pride alive, and it is definitely about more than a month on the calendar. It's about celebrating your identity, supporting each other, and continuing the fight for equality on a day to day basis.
