Hi, so this is a vent. I’m a bisexual female, and I hate it when people forget that it is a sexuality that exists. Like, if I like a girl, that doesn’t automatically make me a lesbian, and if I like a boy, that doesn’t automatically make me straight. I feel like some people even think that bisexual people are just trying to hide from being gay, WHICH IS NOT TRUE! Being bi is a valid sexuality. It’s not just bi either. It’s also pan and who knows how many others. Here’s a scenario where this plays out: girl dates boy. Girl breaks up with boy. Girl gets with another girl. Person says they thought she was straight, she dated the boy. Girl is bi. And people will be like “there’s no way they like you, they’ve dated girls/boys” completely forgetting that you can like someone of the same gender AND opposite gender. So um yeah

@AdaMae I know, there are so many stereotypes and misconceptions about bisexuality, it's just absurd. It's not even a difficult concept to grasp, it's just that people are so entrenched in their "either / or" mentality they refuse to accept any other options.
Having to explain that and educate others is frustrating, but you're not alone! Hang in there, everytime we educate someone on bisexuality we're making one more step towards a more accepting society.
