my family is homophobic, im scared
idk how to start this huhu bet here it goes,
I just came back from a dinner with my parents and we somehow arrived to the topic of pride month, my brother, mom, and dad went in an on about how lgbtqia+ members were pitiful and how God only made two genders, i didn’t know how to act/say knowing that i am a lesbian. now I fear that my brother is gonna find out soon since he just transferred to my school and I know as soon he finds out he’s gonna tell them. huhu (sorry 4 wasting ur time this is just a rant🥲)

people sometimes mock things they do not understand....some assume how others will react also.
I am the mother of a gay son... he was afraid to come out to us as a teen ... his dad and brother often laughed at inappropriate jokes etc and we all thought "dad" would react badly ....certain generation and somewhat good old boy attitudes ..... in the end my reaction may have been the worse not because i had any issues with it .........but the life i had pictured in my head of son and his family in the future changed instantly..........i had to wrap my head around a different vision of his future....
Parents do that you know ...... we also worry more about people who are harsh...... but most people in my group will some surprised... But none were as judgmental or upset as i had assumed some would be.
Do you know his dad did not react badly... it is his child and he loves him regardless.... There many different reactions i know, just sharing my story to hope you can see there are good outcomes too .... was quickly all the items like jokes or such disappeared and more Understanding and support grew .... we both walked our son down the aisle when he married....
I have seen and heard of bad outcomes but seldom do people share the good ones .... It is a risk i understand .........but more parents i know and i know many.... with gay children had a time to let it sink in like i did but families can be fine too...
@proactiveMango7427 This is terrible. I hope your brother can understand this. Because it is normal for parents not to understand, but your siblings should respect you even if they don't support you. I think you should tell him about this in advance. You can tell him. You must let him know that people's sexual orientation is not something they can decide, so if your family obviously doesn't support you and you still become gay, it is not something you can decide. I think you can keep it a secret from your parents, but your brothers should respect it.
