I am a bisexual women and have been dating my partner for 4 and a half years. Recently my partner has come out to me as transgender, and I am so excited and happy for them! We have told my family and are telling theirs shortly everyone has been very accepting of it! The problem comes with work… I am terrified I’ve been working at this company for a year now and my partner 6 months. I am scared as most reactions to anything remotely gay have been laughed at. I am the only women in my field and have had tons of trouble already fitting in. My partner wants to come out at work so they don’t have to be in the closet anymore, I am so excited they are proud of who they are.

But I’m scared…

At work they talk about how gay kissing shouldn’t be aloud on tv, and I always say stuff about how wrong it is that everyone should just be happy… no one listens to me.

my partner says they would be willing to wait for me to feel comfortable. but I’m not comfortable making them stay in the closet any longer. I know it’s harder on them and they are ready they have waited 10 years to come out (I helped them find their confidence don’t know how that happened since I have none)

Is there any way to get over this anxiety…? Please help

Not sure what type work you do............... but most co-workers i have zero idea or care ..... if married or single ... dating or not straight or gay ...... unless they make a comment like "my wife/ husband does ......"

is is about attending company things like social / holiday parties ?

you already have read the room and while In my experience family may be accepting even if they held different views ... work is different... some people are not accepting and it may be uncomfortable for you.....

I am not suggesting hiding anything ...........just talk in general terms like my spouse .. and not share your private life if you feel there will be an issue ......
