Is it homophobic?
Hi, I’ve recently come out as bisexual and all my friends and cousins have been supportive and accepting. I haven’t really dealt with homophobia personally and I’m not sure if something that recently happened is considered that. The other day I was hanging out with my cousin and we were having a sleepover and she FaceTimed her new boyfriend. My cousin and I are really close and have a sister like relationship. I was on tinder and swiping on profiles and was showing her the ones I matched with. Her boyfriend saw that one of them was a girl and asked if I was bi. I told him I was and he got kinda weird and said that was cool. Then he made a “joke” about me controlling myself and making sure I didn’t violate my cousin. My cousin gave me a weird look and quickly changed the subject then hung up on him. She didn’t say anything about it so I’m not sure if I’m overreacting or if that was messed up. Was that homophobic? Any help appreciated.
@bb91700 Sounds like maybe he's really wondering whether your cousin (his new girlfriend) is bi, and he didn't know how to ask her that directly. I don't suppose he cares very much that you are bi, because you are not his girlfriend. But, you know, without talking to the people involved it's really difficult to guess what he might have been thinking.

To me it sounds like a boy being awkward and not knowing what to say/making a bad joke. I would like to hope that he wouldn’t really think his gf would be fooling around with her cousin just because she’s bi. And being an awkward person myself a lot of the time that’s where my first thought went. I’m so happy you have support!

Imo if you ask "Is this racist?" "Is this homophobic?" It probably is...
