LGBT Help
hi, im aria and i am looking for someone to help me with accessing conversion therapy in any form, preferably nonreligious but either is fine; (online, in person, self help book/guide, program, etc.) i came out as bi about a year and a half ago but i think i might be lesbian but im scared of relationships (although that may be its own issue). i have been checking with churches in my area to no avail. can someone please help?
@aaariaa Hi Aria! I am not an expert, but after a few minutes searching the Internet I came across the Alliance for Therapeutic Choice and Scientific Integrity, which might be able to find a therapist for you (in the US) who does this kind of work: Find a Referral Therapist Their website also has some other resources that could be useful.
Based on what I've read, I would suggest that using the term "conversion therapy" is highly controversial, and it might be more practical not to describe your needs in those words. But if you focus initially on being scared of relationships, then I imagine there are many counsellors and therapists who would feel able to help. Once you have established a good relationship with a professional, then it might be easier for the issue of conversion to emerge naturally at a later stage during the course of therapy, without frightening your counsellor or therapist too much.
You are very welcome to click on my profile picture and message me about this, if you like, and I'll always reply as soon as I can. Unfortunately I'll not be available for live chats until around the beginning of November.
