Are there late in life lesbians here?

Hello, I am not a late life lesbian myself, but I am 40 and have spent a lot of time with other members of the community who are older many of which were coming out at an older age, after having marriages and children.

I do hope others will join in here and share their stories as it can be a very different experience, especially as for some the reason for coming out so late in life can be wide ranging, some simply never considered that they may be lesbians, others tried to avoid it, and lots of other experiences in between.

Do you identify as a late life lesbian? What does that mean for you if you want to share?

I'm not really a late life lesbian (I'm 18) but I was in the closet for a really long time without knowing. I was always treated with heteronormative expectations and my parents are homophobic so I tried to like boys/find them pretty but I couldn't. For a while, I thought I might be aro/ace. My gay awakening was in To All The Boys I Loved Before, and my sister was saying that Noah Centineo was hot but I though the female lead was much more beautiful. After that, I kinda examined my whole life and realized I've been having crushes on girls since middle school, I just never realized.
