Asexual or Insecure?

Hey everyone! I’d love some feedback from people who identify under the ace umbrella.

I’ve been struggling for a while trying to place a term on my sexuality, especially when it comes to asexuality and such. I probably could be considered something close to demi-sexual but still feel as though that title is wrong.

My main issue is I don’t know if my sexual-hesitancy and feelings towards towards sex in general is because of insecurity in my lack of experience, or if I truly don’t have those feelings for people…I’m 21, in college, but have only ever been in one relationship and it was never sexual. I’m not one for hookup culture, and so I find the dating scene to be incredibly difficult because i’m not one to want to give it up on the first date. Sex doesn't necessarily disinterest me, but it’s also something that at the moment I can’t see myself doing with anyone, even if I am close to them- but again I don’t know if that’s out of insecurity or not. This is super embarrassing to even write out but I’ve had thoughts of hooking with strangers to “practice”, but that stemmed from worries about not being able to please future partners rather than me actually wanting to experience the feeling. When i think about getting into a relationship in the future i’m more excited to just be close to someone and relate/connect that way, and could care less about the sexual aspects of it.

help?

I'm not Ace, but know a few friends that are. One of them wrote this article about their experiences. https://geekygirlexperience.com/2020/10/coming-to-terms-with-my-asexuality/

Maybe that can help a bit.

@jasperromeo hey! I’m asexual, so maybe I can help. For me I don’t feel any desire to have sex. I also don’t find people sexually attractive. Idk if that helps but hopefully it does a little
