Homophobic parents

Hello. As you can see i have strictly homophobic parents. İf they hear anything about the lgbtq they become disgusted. İ cant make them feel comfortable around with this kind of stuff and i dont think they will accept me as a trans man. İ am 17 and i am closeted for a long time. İ want my parents to be with me and support me because i always wanted to be appreciated and loved by them but our relationship is making this harder each day. İ want to come out so much but i know i'll end up homeless if i do that. İ want to live a cozy life and ask for medical help but i cant do those myself without my parents knowing. İ want them to love my real self but i am so scared of everything to fall apart.

@Cohennard

It can be very challenging when living in a homophobic and transphobic environment, knowing that coming out risks the roof over your head is a heavy thing to carry. It sounds like you've tried to see if your parents would be open minded and learn to be more accepting. Realistically however we can't force anyone to be accepting, even our own parents. The loss of family and friends is an all too common experience for many in the LGBTQ+ community. While many find a new "chosen family" within the community there is still that loss.

It does sound like you have reasonable wants in that we all want to be able to live and be ourselves and have those who care about us continue to do so, but it also sounds like right now the wanting to be yourself and wanting the love and safety don't line up. I wish I knew some way to bring those things together, but I know many who have faced this kind of trade off that no one should have to face. Some set financial independence as the goal they need to reach before coming out to a homophobic family, still hoping for acceptance, but wanting to have some security before taking that risk. While waiting for that day to come sometimes they find little ways to stay closeted but feel true to themselves. Sometimes it's by being out online rather than irl. Overall coping with the position you find yourself in is hard, and all I can really offer is the reminder that you are not alone.

I hope you will find a path that works for you and keeps you safe.

I just want to say that your situation sounds incredibly challenging but I know you can get through it. I would probably try to be more independent before coming out. Talking about you sexuality and your strategy here sounds like a good idea.

I hope you find a way to reach them ...... i know many people do end up being cut off and thrown out

maybe it is only a small group......... but i know a couple of young men ........who had parents that on the surface looked as if that was the last thing in the world they would accept ..........

but when it came to a point they were much better at accepting then anyone thought .... perhaps it was one of those things that it is easier to think you will react a certain way until it hits home but it was not nearly as bad as many expected.
