How do we determine self worth in a world where men don't have to kill wild animals?
No really I'm asking?
Society would tell me to get this and get that. Get a job, get a car, get a house, find a spouse, have some kids...
But that's the same thing we tell women to do these days.
So what do we, as men, use to define our selves as both separate from women and worthy in our own right?
@DaveMarx
I believe that killing animals would not make you "a man"—but only a person capable of killing other living creatures (for food or in self-defence). But being a person who constantly tries to understand a lot of things, who cares and who is a protector to his loved ones and innocent strangers - this sounds more like some male thing.
On your 7 Cups profile you mention something that sounds like a contemporary male stoicism. I think that can be a good way for men going their own way - without giving in to the "expectations of the society", which are often contradictory and/or a pile of rubbish.
Being calm, compassionate and understanding when the world is falling apart. Being strong, even though some sort of cynical, when most people around have already lost their hope (or minds). Just sadly smiling while living in a world of flying daggers, smoke and mirrors, fake accusations, falsified values and nonsensical behaviour standards? And doing as good as you can, despite the hurdles and ordeals. Isn't that a good definition of a man nowadays?
"Killing the wolf" would show all those things. Forethought enough to recognize the wolf as a threat not just to you but to those you love and those you've never met.
But what we did as men was even crazier. We domesticated the wolf. We made our enemy our servant.
This thread is an open question. We all seek answers together.
Self-worth.
What are YOU worth to yourself?

Trust me...no happiness is grander than achieving a self-made goal. But if others control what you want/need, it's their happiness. Hope this clarifies things 🤘🏽
Give yourself some Grace.. because chasing things will probably not make you happy
