Hi! 😊 It seems I can understand how you feel about the elder brother figure.
I had always been the eldest among my siblings and cousins. But the youngest brother of my father was like an older brother to me.
It was no one like him who told me I could try reading some London, Hemingway or MacLean.
It was him who told me to check not only the disco music (I still love today) but also it was great that I tried some Foreigner stuff.
It was him to tell me that my father is much more indulgent to my career ideas than their father was able to be.
He was the only person in the entire family who tried to speak English and play guitar.
He also occasionally teased me and my brother, foresaw the doom end of our cat (we killed the poor animal by accident...) and called us names (like "badhead" 😉) but still I looked up on him.
We have been separated by some life circumstances (some family secrets unraveled, the distance and his growing addiction to alcohol) but still every time I launch some old songs at YT, I remember my "elder brother". There wouldn't be present me without him from the past 💜
