Men are objectified and abused too
As someone who’s been objectified as a child, teenager, and adult for being small and emotionally abused as a result of the type of misogyny that hurts men and is practiced by everyone, I’m really frustrated and have been struggling recently by the lack of awareness and empathy for this type of cruelty. I feel like I’m dealing with this on some level everyday whether it’s just a memory of an abuser that consumes my thoughts or the person I’d try to confide in as a child only to be ignored. I don’t think anyone cares. I don’t think there’s a person in my real life I could realistically explain this to without them being disgusted with me. I’ve tried finding listeners and no one cares. I feel totally alone in this. Can we figure out a way for men to take control back over masculinity without relying on its objectifying symbols?
