Celebrating Halloween Mindfully
Daily Check-In Mindfulness October 29 to November 1, 2026
October 31st is Halloween. The holiday started a long time ago with an old Celtic celebration called Samhain, which was on November 1st according to today's calendars. People thought that on that day, the spirits of people who had died would come back home. To protect themselves from these spirits, they wore costumes and lit big fires.
Today, people celebrate Halloween by taking part in a mix of fun, spooky, and social activities.
How do you celebrate Halloween? How can we add mindfulness to Halloween?

I use to dress up in a costume and run all over town collecting candy.. unfortunately that doesn't happen anymore.. I put out my skeleton 💀 men so people see i'm festive. And I just hang out with my friends drinking wine 🍷

We did not celebrate Halloween when I was young, but I remember "Nicholas Day" (6th December) when we were running around to collect candies. It was an amazing experience, and I was looking forward to it every year as a child.

How do you celebrate Halloween? How can we add mindfulness to Halloween?
This year Halloween is about my 2 year old niece bc it’s her first trick or treating. I’ll be celebrating by accompanying her if she wants me to. Being mindful is includes to but maybe not limited to being aware, observant, safe, cautious.
@amiablePeace77 I dress up and pass out candy to trick-or-treaters and also get candy myself 😊because no shame
@Kitkat370 I feel there is this misconception that if you're an adult, then you can't go trick-or-treating, but I went last year, and people didn't even bat an eye, and I am in my thirties, plus its fun to go up and be like Trick or treat! and then see what u got after walking away
@Kitkat370
Wow, that's awesome! Did you go alone or in a group?
