Is it nice of me to defend myself if it means hurting someone ?

I wish I had more context about your situation for a good answer.  In general it's healthy to defend our boundaries.  Sometimes that means getting angry, but that can also lead to hurt on the receiving end of that anger if they are not prepared for your defence.   But you still have the right to defend yourself if you were hurt too.

Yeah there's nothing wrong with that. After all , the top priority should be yourself. You should put yourself first over others. Defending yourself means you're letting people know your boundaries and having self respect. So yeah you did the right thing... But it might be diff with parents
