Be a little heartless
At least for me, I’ve always gotten emotionally attached to every person I meet. Even when someone hurts me multiple times, I still choose to forgive them.
Maybe being a little heartless actually improves your mental health because it allows you to block out the people who hurt you most.
Growing up, a lot of people bullied me and made fun of me. Even my best friend assumed I couldn't be hurt by their 'jokes.' Every time I blocked them, I would end up unblocking them, thinking I was the one in the wrong. But the day I graduated, I blocked them all for good and promised myself I would never see them again. I felt much happier knowing they can’t hurt me anymore. Later on I found more friends that truly cared about how I felt. It might not be the absolute best way to handle things, but sometimes forgetting people feels a lot better than forgiving them.

Do what is right for you.
I'm sorry you were bullied 💛
You didn't deserve it.
It's not a reflection on you but then, always be you but remember not everyone deserves your kindness 💛

@ivoryPine3466 Being a Scorpio zodiac I feel emotionally for a lot of people even when they want to hurt, you might be correct to some extent. World has changed from what it used to be...

Hello, yes, it's a consequence of being considerate. When we act considerate it's hard not to think that other people are considerate also. However, I once had that impression shattered and it's hard to not be heartless as a result.
Expecting the same level of respect is lost on in some people and the only response you can give is to wish them well and move on. It's never heartless to not tolerate disrespect. It means you have enough self-worth to stand up for yourself.
I think you made a good decision for you. And I hope that you find people who will repay the kindness and consideration you have offered in the past.

I think a good way to go about it is to be nice and polite with everyone, but only let in to your life those who are kind and actually care. Those who have hurt you or who you don't feel are safe, keep yourself reserved with them, and you don't have to hang around them. That's a way for you to protect yourself whilst at the same time maintaining good manners and not changing who you are.
I feel you! I do that with my husband everyday he makes me cry but I constantly forgive him.
