Does anyone have any advice for someone who has just started meditating?
I've been trying really hard to get into meditating, because I'm constantly anxious, worrying obsessively about the future, or feeling drained from emotional numbness, but my stresses always seem to get in the way of me calming my mind and focusing on my breath. Does anyone who is a more experienced meditator have any advice for me? I would like to know some strategies to be a more effective meditator. Thanks and have a great day! :D

It can sometimes just take practice and time to figure out how to *** those voices out. I worked a high stress, deadline driven job when I started meditation. It was hard to keep that out when I started.
I ended up using guided meditation for a bit, which helped some...mainly by focusing on the voice. But I found using calming noise (not music) in the background was a better fit.
Keep at it though, it'll get easier to block out those disruptions. You may also find, with practice, that you reach your peaceful spot faster each time. Good luck.
