I have a question. If anyone here had a friend or relative who lost a close blood relation like a sibling or a parent, did you visit or reach out post the immediate grieving period? This is when the someone is not a person you meet everyweekend. But have known for years maybe. A cousin you were not close to. Or a friend whom you were close to at one point of time. Or do you assume they may have someone in their immediate circle to lean on. And thus stay away after the funeral etc. please be truthful if you answer.

@yourfurryfriend

I always try to give people space when they are grieving but reach out with a card and flowers , just so they know I am thinking of them 💖

I always try to send something.

After the funeral, yes I do try to give some space but a phone call is simple to let them know I’m thinking of them and checking in.

As someone who’s lost a sister, I think it’s nice to know you are in peoples hearts when they need the support most.

I lost my only brother three years ago and no one, not even our mother, reached out to me! There were three of us, John, the oldest only brother, then me the middle child, and our younger sister. I reach out to our mother and sister. It bothers me that nobody talks about John or reached/reaches out once in a while.

If I was in your position I would call just to say hello. It might change their feelings for the future.!!

Decisive human. I am so very sorry for your loss. It is terrible to lose a family member or anyone close to us. The grief arrives in bits and pieces streched out over a year and more. And sometimes we just need someone to be there or someone to meet up with for a coffee or a movie. And yes sometimes it helps if those with a common history reach out more often during grief. That said please feel free to dm me if you ever need a patient albeit untrained ear. Hugs
