The Art of Disconnecting
With modern technology throughout the entire world, the demand for virtual connection continues to grow... 📱
Mindfulness tends to seep away with the overuse of technology due to the constant attention to glamorous lives. 🔎
Now, I want to explain how the art of unplugging can aid in reinstating mindfulness. 🔌
I used to be heavily addicted to my phone with having a long-distance significant partner and I loved watching short clips or videos. 📷
I found myself drowning in content and having to watch more and more to feel fulfilled. 🌊
Anxiety continued to pile up with my self-esteem and self-worth dwindling,,,and then I was presented an opportunity... 💥
I could go to Utah! The only catch. No service. No technology. I was scared. 🙁
At first, my significant other and I were frightened. How could we spend so much time far away from each other without communication? I was not excited to not use my phone. What if something happened? The anxiety crept back in once again. 🤨
And then I was out in Utah, surrounded by the beautiful rock formations all around me. I soon realized I had this wonderful opportunity to take time to myself and plan out my future. Before entering the trip, I was scared and nervous, but once I sat in my tent, I soon realized where all of the issues sat in my personal life. ⛺
Once I came back, I felt levelheaded. I knew the direction I wanted to take in my life, and began working on certain skills such as time management; an area I realized I needed help in. ⏰
Disconnecting from the world can be scary and frightening, but I promise you, sometimes taking a step back can help realign with your personal values and goals. 📆
How have you all coped with disconnecting virtually?

What a refreshing experience you've shared and I'm so so glad you found the comfort in disconnecting from the virtual world/ devices!
I agree, everything has its pros and cons, and when moderation seems to slip away, the cons continue to rise.
Digital detox or disconnecting from the digital space is indeed incredibly helpful to declutter your mind as well.
I don't mind going off my phone or taking a break from the digital world. Love it, actually, and try to do it as much possible. Super necessary at times, and impactful on overall wellbeing too.
