Mindfulness à la Carte

Like any good recipe, mental health requires many ingredients. One of the most vital? Self-awareness. It comes with a special formula passed down like an old family secret. Few know about it. I do.
It calls for three core ingredients, best served on paper. The name? Journaling.
Neurospices - Your thoughts (e.g., "Why am I not good enough?" or "I'm the best I've ever been!" Etc.)
Food Coloring - Your feelings, light and dark. (Anger? Fear? Joy? Lust?)
Choice of Protein - Your behaviors. (Do you withdraw? Eat? Self-harm? Distract yourself?)
Let marinate until the colors shift—until something inside you starts to change.
Once done, you can begin portioning it out (analyzing yourself).
Why did I think that way?
Were my feelings justified?
Did I respond appropriately given the situation?
Now, you can have your cake and eat it too. You did it. You increased your mindfulness.
Still hungry? Reflection is a dish best served often.
Go ahead—make it again!
