HAPPY FRIDAY LOVELY PEOPLE, how are you doing today? laugh I was on vacation and had a very relaxing time but I also took some "positive thinking time" what I usually enjoy a lot too smiley.

So today's post is about

PERMANENCE

One pitfall thought pattern that often holds people is permanence. The problem with permanence is when we are feeling sad, our brains actually lift up all the other sad memories from our past. This creates the illusion that our lives have always been sad. It also creates the false feeling that our lives will always be sad. It takes away the hope if you are depressed. Dont believe that feelings are facts, they are not and they do change.

Ask yourself

Whats an experience in my life that I thought I never recover from but did?

Does reflecting on this help you remember that grey skies pass even when it feels it will stay cloudy forever? If so, how?

Staying with a boyfriend who wasn't right for me for 7 years. Didn't think I'd be able to get out of situations which weren't in my favor or a good match for me quicker. The next one was 4.5 years, then the next one was 8 months, then the next one was 3.5 years. I notice I've changed from putting myself into situations that aren't good for me to being single for 6.5 years looking/waiting for/creating/recogizing situations that are good for me! I've overcome how I used to feel completely. Now I'm feeling something different, still hopeful, positive, and ready to pursue when the moment presents itself. I'm happy about my progress but am also aware that I may be on a pendulum that swung to the other extreme of avoidance. I'm finding a more comfortable, peaceful middle ground, the balanced way.

@onwardforevenmore

Onward, learning who and what is good for us is a skill in my opinion, same refers to balance. I think it's kind of normal when getting away from one extreme to go briefly to the other, important is not to get stuck on the other side. Glad that you see things positive and are finding your balance.

That's a good concept to understand how our brains lift up other sad memories when we're feeling sad. Sometimes I feel like my brain is compiling evidence in order to make sense of a situation, so maybe sometimes I connects dots that ought not to be. Or maybe being sad reminds us of other sad memories that we haven't processed fully yet, to understand why they make us sad or in an attempt to validate ourselves. At least I'm going to try to think about it that way the next time I observe my emotions, that maybe it's there because it's begging me to recognize it so it can be processed.

@SentientiaPoecile

Hi Sentientia, I think you got a good point there - things which are not processed will always surface. We have to deal with it so that we can close the doors.

Thanks for sharing.

@Offmytrack

Going through the loss of a loved one and coming out of it with such a grateful attitude is a great inspiration. Very sorry though for your loss.

Understanding that all colours of the sky are needed to grow is essential and grey is part of them. I am very glad that you see your opportunities in the grey 🧡

Sorry that you had so many struggles. When we interact with others it can become difficult, whether family or outsiders. I am glad to hear that you accept that people react differenctly to you.

Peace wow- even tho I am late in replying still this is a great check in. Makes you think you knowsmiley

Whats an experience in my life that I thought I never recover from but did?

I thought things from my past life I could never-ever recover and have a normal life. But I worked very hard and was determined to break all things bad from my past life and begin my life! I've done it!! And have my own family to be proud ofheart

Does reflecting on this help you remember that grey skies pass even when it feels it will stay cloudy forever? If so, how?

Yes Peace some reflections at times does help me. From where I was back then to where I am now. When I am in the "toilet" meaning sitting on some bs to long, I reflect where I was personally. Normally this does bring me past the deep feelings I have.heart
