Perfectionists is an unhealthy and unforgiving striving for achievement. Perfectionists want things to be just so. They want to feel in control. They fear failure. Theyre self-critical and demanding. Underneath perfectionism is a fear of not being good enough. For perfectionist, self-worth hinges on performance, achievement, and external approval.
Raise your hand if this is you...............
"Everything has a place and purpose"
'You gotta have a reason for feeling down or happy"
"You room has to be perfectly clean"
"You always have to do right by others"
RAISES HANDS!! This is me and more
Yes no lie anyone who knows me I am like OCD on cleaning and organizing-all the way to being in control at work. Also the food pantry needs to be sorted and all things in a line. Isn't that bad
Living life and always feeling things have to be perfect is not easy and brings on more stress,anxiety and worry. Did you know that this is a sign of something in our past or now distrbing us and we feel we have to have control over everything-or something bad will happen. (aside from being diagnosed with OCD)
The mind can sometimes get conditioned to look for flaws. Gratitude really shifts what our search function is, looking for what we already have, already achieved, or already accomplished. —Erica Hamilton
How can mindfulness help me with this??????
1. Listen to this great vidoe. Find a comfortable place where you can focus and relax on this: https://youtu.be/LJQOoAw0BjY
2. Love yourself just the way you are. No one is perfect No one. Show some forgiveness to yourself.
3. Find 1 thing that you try to be perfect at. Let somethings about it be flawed example: leave something in your room messy
4. Accept and don't judge yourself if things are not perfect. Remember you are unique and loved
5. Go for a walk, notice how things in the world are not perfect and still go on
6. Accept my hugs

How does reading this make you feel? What thoughts came into your head? What are somethings you can work on that can help you ease on having things perfect?

That's not me but that's about people i had chance to interact with more closely in my life, they took me in consideration just when i was "perfect" to fulfill any of their needs, big or small....when i haven't been able to I was not "perfect" anymore so they threw me away.
@MySweetAngel hey there-ello-
oh hun this is so sad to read. Hugs really! I don't think that was right of them to do to you-then throw you out due to not being perfect no more. How are you today about this? I do hope that you have some support and know you are perfect in your own ways and very unique
@RumpleSteeleSkin
What a thought provoking thread. I think many people can relate to this and myself at times where we feel we want things just right and anything else is not acceptable. It can take our happiness away from ourselves! It sounds like you have noticed that acceptance and gratitude can really help you through this and being mindful of the concepts that you have in your mind.
while I'm not a complete perfectionist, I can be hard on myself for not doing things 'right'. I think i can use mindfulness to discern when there is an actual right way to do something, and when the right way is just someone elses opinion.
Good to see you. I hope it was an ok thread for peeps. Trying to always be perfect or even battling an illness like OCD and stuff can rob someone of happiness and contenetment- maybe even gratitude.
