Mindfulness Daily Check-In August 15, 2017

Hi everyone how are you doing today?
Today I thought I'd write on this...Why does it bother us on how others think of who we are? I have just been noticing alot of this going around 7cups as well as myself. I do care what others think of me- it is normal!! But we can get so obsessed with this that it becomes worrisome and affects our daily lives. Then what we think of ourselves is so distorted that we 2nd guess of who we really are. So how can we learn how to be mindful on this?
1. Find Your Flow- Finding your flow is a psychological state of complete immersion. Its when youve found the right levels of challenge and mastery. (Too much challenge and youre frustrated. Too much mastery and youre bored) In order to do this find something fun and creative to do, something that is physical if that is what you need. It is going out and trying new things, things that interest you and keep you wanting to do them.

2. Learn How To Be Present In Your New Findings- One great thing that happens when you achieve flow is that youre immersed in what youre doing, so you dont worry what others are thinking of you. Even if you just enjoy a good picnic on a bench in a park. You ARE doing something! When youre filled with astonishment by a single leaf blowing in the wind orwhen youre identifying cloud types and weather patterns and even when you notice every squirrel in every tree… you are completely present.
3. Practice Cognitive-Mindful Reframing- HA-HA several peopletell me this on how to care less what others think is, "Oh, just understand that no one's watching you, no one notices you, no one cares what you do." Which is true, actually. For the most part people are really oblivious to what others are up to, and you're the only one who's worried about your flaws.
Basically, cognitive reframing takes advantage of the fact that your brain is horrible at distinguishing fact from reality which, actually, is why you feel so self-conscious all the time. You imagine that people are watching you, and part of your brain believes it's true.
So... it's time to do the opposite. When you're about to do something that makes you self-conscious, take a second to visualize.
If you're about to sing, imagine, in as much detail as possible, that everyone in the audience is tone deaf and therefore incapable of hearing your mistakes. I know this sounds ridiculous but it's true! When you imagine a story in your mind part of your brain will believe it is true. Even if you know it's not. It's a great way to take a little pressure off of yourself, which will allow you to focus on the task at hand and immerse yourself more fully in the art, conversation, or creation.

@RumpleSteeleSkin Hi RSS, very nice post!! Ughghgh Cognitive Refraiming...... REALLY HELPFUL, and really hard to get ahold of lol. I spend a lot of time talking to myself and refraiming. It is a work in progress and I appreciate the post support!!!! xoxo
@yzzil
Hi there yzzil good to see you here
Yes Cognitive Reframing is a skill that ummm well you gotta have patience with and a whole lot self love as its sorta hard-but not impossible. These skills are meant to take in step by step and not in a "big bite" as it sets us up for failure right away- then we don't want to try nothing! I'm glad that you talk to yoursel and refraiming as this is baby steps. Keep going as I said above get creative with it
@RumpleSteeleSkin Thank you for your post. I have never heard of finding your flow. The graph is great. I am a little overwhelmed right now but I'm going to come back to this post and research this process. I have always hear about finding your purpose and have never been able to find mine. I like this idea of flow. It's more organic. If you have any more information on this topic I would love to hear about it.
@Summer77
Hey there Summer great to see you in check-in
I have heard of "finding your flow" I think the best way to describe it would be to find things in life that you like, enjoy and are invested in. There too- I believe you "find your purpose" in life. Many of us are still searching for our purpose in life as we are not satisfied with what is right there in our lives now. We want better, or listen to what others think of us or what we should be doing.
I also will look into the "finding your flow" as far as mindfulness.
@RumpleSteeleSkin great idea to find your flow. I am looking to be in the flow every day. Thanks for sharing.
@soulsings
Hi Soul
Finding "the" flow is sometimes hard to maintain weekly and daily too. I placed this in my routine daily as to help me best with some more self care. So far its great
@RumpleSteeleSkin yes good idea.
