Mindfulness Daily Check-In August 24, 2017

All living beings, without any exception, feel. Not very many of them however, use feeling as a means of gaining deeper insight into the reality of their experience while avoiding emotional reaction. Human beings who use their mind to think and create are in a very advantageous position. Unfortunately, not many human beings use their feelings as a way to develop their humanness or humane qualities. There are many human beings who have not learned to use their unlimited mental capacity and feelings for further development of their mind.
When somebody asks you, How are you? You would say I am fine. or I have never felt better. or I am O.K. and how about yourself? or I dont feel well today. or I have a bit of an upset stomach. or I feel miserable today. Here you express your feelings but not any particular reason for how you feel. My only point is how feelings should be used as an object of mindfulness training so that you would be able to live with all kinds of feelings without having a nervous breakdown.
So for today 1 ONE SKILL
Meditation – We can examine our feelings just as we do our thoughts. On or off the cushion, when a feeling is strong enough to come to our attention, we can examine it through mindfulness. What is really going on here? You can mindfully watch the feeling until it passes.
Reflection- Each day re-think on how you would like to feel, and interact with others, think on goals and accomplishing 1 .Practice mindfulness of feelings. What do you observe?

I was so afraid to examine my feelings because I knew it would make my emotions became unstable. Previously I ignored all of them so I could move forward quickly or wouldn
@adaptiveLight27
Hiya Light great to see you here in check-in
Im sorry to hear that you were afrais to examine your feelings
It is sometimes really hard to examine and truly dig deep on a feeling. Where did it come from? Why? How? etc.But there is a flip side to this all. LEARNING I liked what you said "definately want to practice" Se there you are being willing. I will make it a point to do more on mindfulness feelings. And I'd like to see you keep coming here daily too
thanks for that list rumple. so many emotions and sometimes we even do not recognize them. may be next time when i do not know what feeling is bothering me i take your list and look which it is.
@amiablePeace77
Hiya Peace great to see you here in check-in. Awww that really made me smile
You are right sometimes we don't know the feeling we are feeling, or we go to the most comfortable, regular one. But to be mindful is really looking into things on feelings. haha I was going to get into it deep here on feelings. I do hope this chart helps you
@amiablePeace77
same for me too, i often cannot properly identify the name of feeling i currently have, which may make it difficult to address.
@PurpleSnowflake2310
Hi Purple great to see you. May I suggest something? When you feel something and can't put it into words or a feeling, grap some paper and jot down everything that associates this "feeling" you feel down there. If you keep track of how this goes you will eventually start putting a name to each feeling you have. Good luck!!
When we realize that we are NOT our feelings nor controlled by them, we can begin to look as objects almost outside of our Selves. Accepting and examining emotions can take away much of their power.
I often feel emotions physically in my body. That sensation can't stand up to intense scrutiny. I can focus on it until it goes away. This occasionally works for headaches too.
This is just simply brilliant!! Great Job! :)
Thanks for the list rumple I can use these to work with my loved ones as well
