Mindfulness Daily Check-In December 11, 2017
Goooood morning mindfulness community
Wait- what?? Was I to loud lol Well again we come across another Monday yes it is Monday. It means another new day and week. Last week is gone- we can't change that or anything from last week. But we can change how we think on certain things, or react even feel. Alright well I feel I'm jiber-jabbing now
I know we all have memmories. We have good ones, sad ones, painful ones, love ones. These are our memories that we cheerish, well mos of them anyways. I know a lot of us deal with trauma memories and things like that. Where some of our memories juat are not nice ones. But I don't want us to remember on those memories. But good ones. We focus so much on the "bad" and not the good in us all. We all have good-it's just sometimes very hard to focus on. So this fine Monday morning pleae share on a good memory.

As Today is Dec 11 and 3rdCupversary of my mentor @MusicalMagic. So, I do dedicate this checkin for her.
I still remember that fine day when I messaged Magic about mentor thing. As like any other new ones I wasn't sure how this Mentor stuff works. And she so smoothly guided and cleared my doubts and I casually asked if she could mentor me. With my surprise she said happily, "Yes".
And one more name added to my list apart from Kristen and Power for asking my small or big, silly or ok ok queries. 😜 They always there with me.
Apart from this,I have some more sweet memories with you all. I am glad to be here with y'all and work together and knowing each other.

Memories Monday - Nice one
Well It will have to go back to childhood memories of fun times with grandparents. Those that have been lucky enough to reach mid adult hood with the love of grandparents is truly a blessing. I remember, always annoying my grandma in the kitchen while she use to cook. She use to tell me off and how sweet that sounded. Grandparents are an institution of knowledge, what they said didnt make sense as a child but now facing life issues in adulthood, it makes sense. I am thankful to mine for teaching me patience and kindness. I know I will never see or hear them again but all the love and care they gave lives within my heart.

Oh man, I remember this one so well. It was the first time we celebrated Sinterklaas (A Dutch festivity that is kinda close to the American tradition of Santa Clause) with my little brother's girlfriend. She has an Irish father and a Greek mother, so she mostly speaks English. She is practising her Dutch, but most of the time it's just easier to speak English with her.
Sinterklaas, just like Santa Clause, gives children presents and delivers them the 5th of December. Along with those presents, he writes us poems. He writes what you have done exceptionally well this past year, and gives you love if you had hardships. In our family, we have gotten very creative with the poems and because it was her first, I wanted my little brother's gf's poem to be special.
I wrote a poem mixing our two languages together, English and Dutch, and it was absolutely hilarious. Our family was totally cracking up and luckily, the poor girl, struggling over the Dutch words (which can be as long as FrankenGerman ones) could laugh it off as well.
What I remember well about it is that my little brother (who is actually way taller than I am) gave me the biggest hug. And he hadn't even seen the present I got for him and his gf yet. He hugged me because he loved that poem. And that made me so happy.
We've had a lot of hardships the last year, but this Sinterklaas was the best one yet.

HIya Jay nice to see you todaywow I do like your tradition of Christmas/Sinterklass!! Also I smiled when I read on your nice kind action for your brothers gf and her learning Dutch. Our santa brings gifts and surely does know when you were naughty And he also bites cookies once and leaves a milk stain on the table lol I'd of so loved to gotten a poem, those things are really what makes the heart so rich and loving around the holidays. Hearty laughter is really needed I say. I bet your poem was fantastic!!! And made her smile so much that she will not forget about it. aahhhh so glad that you and your brother hugged and that he loved the poem. Even tho we all have our trials and tribulations, there is always room for "good" memory making
There are so many wonderful memories to choose from; however, the first one that popped into my head this time is the one I'll share.
I used to do Scottish country dance, English country dance, contra dance, and square dance. I loved it! One year, they had a Scottish country dance and English country dance weekend down in Austin, Texas. I attended with a friend of mine. We had workshops during the day and then a formal dance in the evening. There was one particular English country dance set where I had the "perfect set" to dance with. It included friends from different parts of the state, so I rarely got to dance with them. My partner for that set was one of the best dancers I knew, and a very lovely person. That set was a little piece of heaven. Even though it's been a number of years, I still refelct upon that "perfect set" often. It just makes me happy...even when I'm feeling blue.

Hello Bridget nice to see you in check in Oh wow Scottish country dancing looks neat and fun to learn. I only see it on tv tho and never saw it in real life. idk nothing on dance "sets" but you sure loved that one This memory I see is in you deeply and that you will not ever lose.
@RumpleSteeleSkin, a set is the group of dancers who are dancing to a song/songs. Sets are generally in squares with couples standing side by side or in lines with men in one line facing thier partners in the other line, although I do remember one dance that was done with three couples in a triangle. I really do miss it; however, my knees and some other health conditions keep me from doing this any longer. So the memories are all the more precious. I used to be on a Scottish country dance demonstrations team. I would attend workshops, dances, and balls for Scottish country dance, English country dance, contra dance, and square dance. I took some folk dance waaaay back in university. I loved that, too. Mairi's Wedding was one of my favorite Scottish country dances. It's Mari's wedding day, and the dance portrays all the running around to get ready.

Bridget thank you for sharing on this. I also youtubed the dance, beautiful dance I say. Also you are practicing mindfulness by remembering this dance, the details, how pretty it was, how it made you feel. Keep that memory close to you.
@RumpleSteeleSkin, actually, I haven't ever used the memory as a mindfulness practice. But I'll take that suggestion and run with it.

Run? Can we both walk-Im kinda big and lazy lol. Yes mindful memories is a really good skill that we do every day. We just don't realise this. I really do love the one you shared

Hello Breaker so good to see you todayI so love decorating the Christmas tree with my family, and sometimes just me. The ornaments I remember getting, bought, or made. Love the lights as well. And when it's dark I just have the tree on and just feel a humbleness about looking at the tree. What do you remember doing the tree?
A good memory: Sliding on ice covered puddles with my sister when we were around 10 years old. We were even allowed to break the ice with our wellington boots and stomp in the mixed mud-ice-water, it was a really good feeling.
