Hello wonderful Communitysmiley OMG what's going on? Construction?surprise

Yes you are seeing right. But a different kind of "construction" As you all know 7cups is getting bigger-busy and always needing new things to attract the community. So as the Mindfulness Forum Leader as well as ASilentObserver as co-leader we thought of adding/removing some areas and bringing mindfulness to some already existing areas we have on 7cups. So you want to hear some thoughts?

Some areas that are going to be added are-

Mindfulness and Depression

Mindfulness and Anxiety/Social Anxiety

Mindfulness and Relationship Issues

Mindfulness and Eating Disorder

Mindfulness and Trauma/PTSD

Changes are not going to happen ASAP as we like to hear from you-the community. Yes we are a team and that includes you as wellsmileyheartSo please share your thoughts, share some topic areas to add, share on anything as this is your area.

thank you all for reading thissmiley

@RumpleSteeleSkin - I initially love this and feel eagerness and excitement. I have the thought that, in this moment, the mindfulness community is fine as it stands, that it doesn't need fixes or improvements. I feel concern that this will lead to a cluttered or fragmented community, but recognize that those are just anxieties that do not predict the future. Ultimately, I'm pleased with these ideas and I'm curious to read more about how this growth will be implemented.

Hi Wont good to see yousmileyI do understand you on the fear of this area becoming cluttered or fragmented. Change can be so so hard. I don't want this to be a feeling the mindfulness community has. That is why today I brought the idea out to you and everyone else. Can I ask what would you like to see? How can the mindfulness team make a change and do it so everyone feels good about this?

@RumpleSteeleSkin - Change can be hard, but it is also slowly happening around us at every moment, so I am open to embracing the changes and seeing what comes. I would love to see the other subcommunities adopt a mindfulness section of their own, because it is so useful and healing in every area. That may not be super plausible, I don't think, so instead, what you're proposing is a good idea: to bring those categories into the mindfulness community instead. So long as it is organized succinctly and does not become too fractured, I'm going to give into my excitement about this and look forward to future updates. (:

Another busy week. Have been keeping goals I have set. Weather has been good which should help keep anxiety in check. Spending more times outdoors enjoying the sunshine and cloud formations which help to relax me. Enjoy the rest of your week

@RumpleSteeleSkin I think that this is an amazing idea! :) I just have a few question. Will a different person be responsible for each different area of mindfulness then? Also, will we have different daily check-ins regarding each area, or one check-in a day (as usual) but a different area each day?

@SaimaK

HI Saima good to see you in check in todaysmiley

1. I am not sure how we will see to each area, if a person be in charge of it or not. Im kinda looking for the community to take on with forum posts and sharing on topics that suite an area. What do you think on this?

2. The daily check ins are run by the person who choosen that day. They choose the topic for the day. This area too I'd like to see the community leading them

What are your thoughts on this?

@RumpleSteeleSkin Thank you! :)

1.) I think that would be a great idea. Would you set requirements for each area so that individuals can apply for each position/see that they are qualified for the role?

2.) I think that is a great idea! :) Maybe every individual in each different area can sign up for which day they want weekly, so it can always change and is easier to maintain in case of any last minute changes. Or even a monthly sign-up organizer would be good as well.

So yes Saim the forums are for you and the community to share,express, connect and support one another. The team steps in and offers daily check ins and forum threads and forum posts to also encourage the community and support them.

I'd like the community to feel they have a position as well if they are interested

I am open to ideas you and the members have to make this area more active, supportive and safeheart

@RumpleSteeleSkin

Not at the moment. I just find it a very good idea as mindfulness has such a tremendous impact on the brain and can be so helpful for i guess all illnesses, particularly for people who want to activily participate in their healing in this way.

I really love that you guys are doing this and I think it's a wonderful idea! By sort of splitting things up into smaller branches of the same idea, people who struggle on the same front can band together and people with the same experiences might be able to offer help and advise that is more specific. For example, I'd like to meet people who struggle with anxiety and hear what they think of the topic of mindfulness and maybe if they have any tips on how to use mindfulness to battle their anxiety. And I might be able to help them with some advise of my own as well. Love it, very excited about it laughheart

@JayTheBird14

HI Jay wonderful to see you todaysmileyThe idea is just that Mindfulness as a whole but split up on topics that we already have here on 7cups. To get the community to contribute to these areas and even be responsible for them if they choose to. So really this is the first step in a change, and then getting community to build on it. We will do it slow tho as to not get others feeling uneasy as mindfulness is a quiet close community.

I too am a little concerned about it being too cluttered and not very user-friendly as a result. I also am concerned about the mindfulness communities being a little more compartmentalised and it's getting confused about where to post. But the issues that you're bringing up are worth bringing up. There is a lot that goes along with mindfulness. Anxiety and relationships are my issues as social anxiety is. When I go out into the world I have to be very mindful. I have to be mindful of how I respond to it. I still notice behaviors that I would like to change. I notice other people's behaviors and how they respond to me.

change is stimulating and inevitable. I think we need to balance change with stability. Thank you for allowing me to participate.

Hi HelpfulsmileyThank you for sharing on this. I do appreciate hearing on all views to make sure a change is good for the community. I want things to be friendly,welcoming,supportive,warm and safe, also a place where many can share openly on mindfulness issues. So for you a place for anxiety and mindfulness could be helpful?

@RumpleSteeleSkin

Yes.

I have a suggestion. Maybe we can have those compartments you suggested and also something for anything not mentioned or listed. I want to make sure everybody in this community stays included and covered in their issues with mindfulness.

I think this is a fantastic idea. It targets what to be mindful of more spicifically and I thin that could be really good, for me at least.

@RumpleSteeleSkin I originally joined the mindfulness community as a gentle way to particiapte without having to choose a label hoping it could help me in "all" areas of my life. And it is and has. I don't want to choose, I want to be mindful of it all, which is the point of mindfulness. See reality as it is. Accept and live it as it is. By labeling and forcing us to label our lives even deeper and focus on one aspect, we automatically ignore other aspects of our life that otherwise would be encompassed in a more general topic. Will sub-topics of mindfulness ask us to cross over into the other areas of life or other problem areas too? Each of these subtopics is great but people should have a chance in a general group to explore whether and how they are relevant in a bigger context. I probably won't join any subgroup if we're forced to or those are the only options, so please keep a general one too after making the change.

@onwardforevenmore

Hi Onward good to see yousmileyThank you for sharing this-it helps in making a change and is it really going to be helpful. Yes I agree with you on how mindfulness should be, as well as it can be a labeling thing as well. I am not looking to label no one, or their issues. I'd like to just add a few areas I know pwoplw have some struggles in and learn or share on mindfulness.

Hmmm since I read your post here and a thought came up. To combine all those anxiety,social anciety,depression etc into one area. Let the community share in there and that way nothing is changed or removed. How does this sound for you?

@RumpleSteeleSkin I think all areas are useful and would appreciate hearing what they had to contribute in the general forum. Removing them from the general forum may make it less useful/helpful for those of us who don't want to select/compartmentalize.

Onward I will not delete thingssmileyI think just adding an area combined with what I'd like to add maybe is best. Then there is no really big change going on. I want this area to remain calm,safe,supportive and not confusing. Thank you for sharing this with the teamsmiley
