Mindfulness Daily Check-In January 17, 2020

User Profile: amiablePeace77

Its Friday again, Hi everyone in the Mindfulness Community. laugh

Question today: What stresses you out most and how do you combat it?

When we are stressed out we think we have any time for stress relief but right in this time it is important to take time to relax because stress can lead to chronic illnesses.

A good way to take pressure off is to tell yourself There will be never enough time to do all the things I want to do and thats okay, I do what I can. smiley

@amiablePeace77 are you in my headsurpriseha lately I feel stressed and overwhelmed-but I am working this out step by step. As a leader and renovating this area, there are things I need to get done AS WELL recruit, forum threads, make new fun ideas and so forth. As well as me doing CNA certifications daily and then take care of my zoo plus my miniture me's lol.

It does sound like a lot-but it is not if I put things in order. What gets me stressed in all this is not the things I have to do-but people's behaviors. I am a very giving person and have a generous heart of being kind and show patience. But if they demand then it builds stressers for me. I deal with this by sharing honestly "I can not do this right now-can we make a time for this" I just do not ignore them. That to me is rude. On site I do the same thing. Communicate a good time to do things and also show empathy to the other persons needs. But I never just ignore a person due to not my time online. Right now I am not stressed but my day is a bit busy. For my self care I am going to replant some tall plants into glass tall planters I bought. Then clean my fish tank and take dogs for a walkheart

Can I suggest "getting things done" by David Allen.

@RumpleSteeleSkin

Thats a lot of work for sure, its amazing that you get so much done. What you described is a nice and fair way to deal with people, it shows that you really care. Noone wants to feel ignored but I know it can happen, unintentionally too when people have to much on their mind. Glad you know how to balance yourself again, hope things will get easier. heart

Thanks Ami I think I just needed to share a little and your post was right where I needed to be. I love to be busy and needed doing something. But at times things go wrong. It is our own feelings and actions that make that experience good or bad. I do love syopping and breathing in my flowers and enjoying the love my animals give me. Of course enjoy fun things with my teenies. Thank you again Amiheart

Boy, your quote at the end really hit home! I'm constantly badmouthing myself for not getting the 100 things I told myself I would do (in 1 hour!) done crying Hahaha. It's a bit unrealistic, to say the least. It stresses me out so much! I could always be working on my portfolio, writing someone a letter, practicing harmonica, cleaning some part of my house, visiting someone I hadn't seen in a while-- it never ends! I always end up feeling guilty and rushed (even though I'm the one putting these deadlines on myself). It does help to have a (giant) to-do list that I can check things off of. That way I have a visual guide to how I'm doing, and I can see what I've accomplished and see what has made the list smaller!

IF ANYBODY ELSE IS STRUGGLING WITH MOTIVATION OR AN ENDLESS TO-DO LIST:

I actually just downloaded this app that now me and most of my friends use daily: It's called Habitica! It makes chores into a game, because things you check off of your to-do list become XP, gold, & items that a little RPG character can use to level up! You can invite all your friends to a guild (which is what I did) and do quests together! I love it, and my friends have said they love it too! I actually get excited to like, do laundry for example because I'm like, "Oh my gosh if I do laundry I can feed my dragon and level him up so I can ride him!!!" Hahaha. If anyone downloads it, lemme know how you're doing!! That's just me & my crew of nerds, though, it's not for everybody. I just figured, why not share what's helped me? smiley

Thanks for the check-in today!

@betterchoices

Hey, that sounds like a fun thing to do and to motivate yourself, just googled it.

Its frustrating to realize on a constant basis that the things you wanted to do are not getting done, but we all can do only so much and that is okay too. Great you found the Habitica app and that it helps. Thank you so much for sharing.

Tech failures. I can't seem to relax completely until they are sorted.

What do I do? Remind myself it isn't life threatening, and generally I'll get a renovated something, phone, computer, etc to replace it. Fortunately I have the means to do that.

@DavidEss

I find sometimes we simply take things to serious, reminding ourselves that its not life threatening like you do is a good way to find balance again.

@amiablePeace77

I would agree with you. In fact I would say that most of the stuff we worry about doesn't need worrying about, but also a lot of the stuff we don't concern ourselves with needs attention.

The cure for this is probably Mindfulness practice.

@DavidEss

I totally agree to what you said, we need to focus on what needs attention.

Question today: What stresses you out most and how do you combat it?

What stresses me most is having an overload of emotions/overthinking. I retreat to my happy place and vent to my friends. They always have the right words to say to me. If I am alone, I like to read some poetry or write something myself. I take deep breaths and if necessary, cry it out.

What's stressing me recently is my finals though. I'm trying to spend as much time as I can for it. I take breaks and I just hope I do well heh.

@Sabella

Hi Sabella, I hear you, it's tough to deal with too many emotions at the same time and not being able to disconnect from racing thoughts but you see to have good support and know what to do.

Wish you all the best for your finals ✌

Btw have you checked our self-help guides, like managing emotions? https://www.7cups.com/supportGuides/selfHelpGuides.php

@NotGlue

Sorry you're having such a rough time at the moment that makes being in the now difficult. My practise of mindfulness varies, some days are harder than others but I believe that those are the days I need to keep practising most.

Hope things will get better soon.

1. Work stresses me out sometimes, but I love what I do so its ok.

2. When my hair or my curves are not cooperating in the morning!

@Zulegirl

Work can become stressful, even if we love what we do. I find taking small breaks in between helps a lot.

Getting the hair done can be quite an act in the morning that's why I decided years ago to keep it just shorter but of course that's not for everyone.
