Mindfulness Daily Check-In November 1, 2019

Happy Friday everyone in the mindfulness community. Hope you will all have a mindful weekend.
Today I like to invite you to a mindful walking meditation.
Find a quiet place 10 to 20 feet in length, and begin to walk slowly. Focus on the experience of walking, being aware of the sensations of standing and the subtle movements that keep your balance. When you reach the end of your path, turn and continue walking, maintaining awareness of your sensations.
How was this different to the normal walking you do apart from the speed?

I usually live in the dark, never turn on the lights in my apt. I usually walk with a purpose, not paying attention to my walk.
This proposed exercise was so different. I gave it a twist of my own and closed my eyes (remembering a dicumentary with a woman preparing for her oncoming blindness disability). I have walked in tranquility my whole apartmentwith my eyes closed in complete tune with my surroundings, a different kind of walk, a refreshing walk involving awareness and a sense of "1" with the surroundings...weird but it is what I felt...
@sparklesinthewater I like what you felt! I felt the same way!
@sparklesinthewater
I like the idea walking with closed eyes, it strengthens our other senses, everything is felt more intense in my opinion.
@amiablePeace77
It does indeed and unexplainably, it is no superpower or anythig but you become more aware, more calm and confident and one with the surroundings.
@sparklesinthewater
So true, I find one develops a much deeper connection to everything,to yourself inside and to the outside.
@sparklesinthewater Yes you do become more aware!
@lavenderpeach1107
Yes you do become more aware!!!
@sparklesinthewater
Yes you do and I agree with this!!
@amiablePeace77
Yes that's very true!!!
@sparklesinthewater
I totally understand that!!!
@amiablePeace77
It was so different. I usually walk quickly, moving from one place to another. I move with purpose and I have a destination. But this time, I felt the cool floor against my feet and I lost my balance like 1 to 2 times because I was so focused on just walking and it was so different and kinda weird. But I won't lie, it felt nice too
@LexIris It was a fun exercise wasn't it?! A great lesson in staying in the present!
@LexIris
Nice that you enjoyed this walk. I believe we are not used to connect to the ground, to really feel our feet performing a full step whilst walking anymore. Walking became just a means of getting from A to B so I find doing this from time to time allows us to experience our bodies and the movement in a mindful way. Walking slowly with doing the individual step consciously teaches us balance too.
@amiablePeace77
So very true!!!🤗🤗🤗🤗
@LexIris
Yes very true when you slow down. You discover new things!!!.🤗🤗🤗🤗
@amiablePeace77 I practice mindful walking everyday! When I go outside I focus on the the way the wind makes my skin feel, the smell in the air, the sounds that are around me! It's amazing and I feel more connected to the earth that way! This exercise was great because I'm really starting to enjoy just being with myself and being "present."
@lavenderpeach1107
That's a wonderful practise to stay in the present!
@amiablePeace77 You are very right!
@lavenderpeach1107
That really great!!!🤗🤗🤗🤗
@GuardianAngel77 Thank you friend!
@amiablePeace77
Ami hi and thanks for this check in
Does walking from my computer room to the fridge count-it was more then 20 feet? When I walked I noticed how my body is stiff today. Had a long week of work so maybe some soothing time for me in awhile. I noticed how soft the floor was with my socks on to. It is different when I notice how I walk even to the fridge- where as when I just walk daily like normal. This will make me observe more of me more so surroundings all the time
@RumpleSteeleSkin
Sure Rumple, not limit to length, even if you walk twice to the fridge to get some food
.
I agree, the mindful walk is different, it's an experience.
Hope your work will lessen next week and you will have more free time for yourself.
@RumpleSteeleSkin
Yes That's great that you realize that you're body was stiff. That's good that you started to relax.
Usually I try to ignore my back pain when walking but this time I noticed my foot placement, whether I was turning my legs inward, and the position of my pevis to try to see if there was a way I could hold myself pain free. #mindful
@onwardforevenmore I'm sorry to hear about your back pain!
@amiablePeace77
Hi everyone,
I try to do this every day. I take time everyday to take time to smell the roses. I go a slow pace each day. We live in a fast pace world now days. And a stressful world. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗!!!!
