Mindfulness Daily Check-In September 7, 2017
Hello everyone! Welcome to the mindfulness daily check-in! How are you all doing?
For today's check-in, we are going to do a simple exercise to be mindful of our surroundings. Wherever you are right now, just stop for a moment, take a deep breath, and look around yourself. Find something that you have always been seeing but have never given attention to. Figure out something interesting about it.
For example- I have three wooden elephants and six Laughing Buddhas (clickable link) on one of the corners of the room I am currently sitting in. I have shared what each Laughing Buddha signifies in the clickable link above. I have them since forever but today is the first time that I figured out what each Buddha signifies.
- What is that thing(s) that you have been seeing daily but have never paid proper attention to?
- What does it signify? Could you share something interesting about it? (Any memory attached to it, if you want to share?)
- What do you feel about it right now? Did this exercise help you to pay attention to something or find out something new about it?
Let me know your thoughts below! ![]()

Restarted Meditation! A great calming exercise..
Hi there, just learned about the mindfulness discussion sessions and this forum today. :) Although I have tried to do mindfulness-based meditation on my own, it is really helpful to have a community of other like-minded individuals to discuss and do short practices with.
I feel a little more calm after having participated in the discussion and mindfulness exercises. There were many others who were kind and supportive of each other, so I had a good experience. Looking forward to becoming a part of your mindfulness community here on 7cups~ :D

Thank you for the link~ Yes, I'm looking forward to it. :)
One thing I find myself pondering often is my dog. I often feel he is in the way or too energetic for our small appartment. While on walks or when he is sleeping right next to me, I think about all the positives. He keeps me on a schedule. He get me to go on about 4 15 minute walks a day at least. He is happy to see me when I come home and sad to see me go. He enjoys his toys and treats that I give him. He lets me cuddle with him when my anxiety and depression are too much. I seriously have mindful moments where the only purpose is to really focus on the positives of my dog in my life. He is so awesome and sometimes I lose sight of that with what I have going on inside. By the way, his name is Chip Email Chunk, but he goes by Chunky. 😀

Aww your doggo has such a cute name!
I can hear how awesome your dog is and how much you love him by the way you have described him here. It's great knowing that he helps you when anxiety and depression get too much sometimes and he lets you cuddle with him. I really love dogs and I really want one, but my parents don't let me get one.
Chunky sounds like an amazing dog with positive vibes! I'm glad you have him.
Also, thank you so much for participating in the check in today and sharing about your wonderful dog.
